The explosive discovery by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that its ranking Democratic member coordinated with the IRS to target True the Vote came as no surprise to its founder and president. She called it “the tip of a very ugly iceberg.”
Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., the committee’s chairman, released emails earlier this week strongly suggesting that Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., was in direct communication with disgraced IRS supervisor Lois Lerner in an effort to target True the Vote’s non-profit application.
In an interview with Newsmax, Catherine Engelbrecht, president of True the Vote, a Texas-based conservative organization founded to combat election fraud, said this week’s disclosure gives proof to her earlier claims.
“I’m thrilled to see that these documents are seeing the light of day and my current hope is that we continue on in this discovery process because we’re only beginning to see what I believe is the tip of a very ugly iceberg,” she said.
Through her attorney, Cleta Mitchell, Engelbrecht filed a complaint in February alleging that Cummings was pushing an investigation against True the Vote. He called those charges “absolutely incorrect and untrue” at the time. The emails Issa released this week directly contradict that claim.
“Now we find out from these emails released that in fact our request for an investigation really is well placed because [Cummings] was, and his staff, they were having communications with the IRS about True the Vote,” Mitchell said in the joint Newsmax interview with her client.

Mitchell said the similarities between questions asked of True the Vote by Cummings staffers and IRS officials at separate junctures strongly suggested inappropriate coordination between Cummings and the IRS. Engelbrecht said holding Cummings accountable is important, but the issue goes far beyond him.
“To whatever extent there can be disciplinary action taken, we need to be very serious about taking them, but make no mistake, Elijah Cummings, though very important at this juncture of this discovery in this investigation, is just one of what I believe will be quite an extensive cast of characters that will point to a much vigor, much more orchestrated effort to target and silence private citizens,” Engelbrecht said. “He’s just one of many.”
Ms. Engelbrecht is the most courageous and brave woman in America today. Thank God for her efforts.
It really doesn’t matter because America is under a communists Democrat dictatorship. We are headed to a civil war and it is about to start. Shame of America and shame on millions of Americans that are no better than the communists themselves. Cummings is a criminal.
You said it really doesn’t matter, and then the rest of your statement proves it DOES matter. Do you not see this procedure as very likely a part of the civil war you are talking about. What you are talking about was advanced 5 years this week with the Engelbrecht affair and the BLM in Nevada.
It really does matter. It all matters. Who knows what will be “the straw” that breaks the back….but it all matters and it all adds up.

Shouldn’t Cummings, at the very least, be temporarily removed from his seat on the oversight committee investigating the IRS targeting matter?
I dont know who, but somebody needs to aggressively folow up on this. If Cummings goes down, he’ll bring Lois down with him.

Ace lawyer Cleta Mitchell--representing True The Vote---should subpoena every official document filed by Lois Lerner and Elijah Cummings. Every document needs to be scrutinized in conjunction w/ possible connections to IRS terrorism-targeting, orders from Obama, favors from Obama, financial emoluments, govt fraud, etc.
Perjury, forgery, and voter fraud need to be considered. For example: Obama cheerleaders Lerner/Cummings might have coached voters to lie on registration forms, and perhaps falsified candidacy papers.

Falsifying documents is a very serious offense and is generally classified as a felony. This means that a person charged with falsifying documents may be subject to the following legal penalties:

Depending on the gravity of the offense, as well as individual state laws, falsifying documents can result in a prison sentence of 5-10 years. Also, if government documents or authorities were involved, the legal penalties may be more severe. ..... legal penalties may increase with repeat offenses.
The penalty for falsifying government documents is outlined in the Crimes Act of 1958. ///Apparently Issa has info that Cummings and Lerner corresponded.
If the allegations can be proven, IRS/Lerner and Democrat Cummings faces VERY serious charges of getting unauthorized access to confidential Federal Taxpayer Information (FTI), a violation that could land them in jail-----and if they colluded to obtain numbers of FTI's from Conservative 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) groups--that could involve other serious crimes.
If Elijah does, in fact, possess unauthorized tax documents obtained through conspiracy and collusion, and if he distributed the illegally-held documents to other "interested parties" (perhaps in Congress), charges of aiding and abetting could also be involved.

Senate Democrats facing tough elections this year want the IRS to play a more aggressive role in regulating outside groups expected to spend millions of dollars on their races. In the wake of the IRS targeting scandal, the Democrats are publicly prodding the agency instead of lobbying them directly.
Dems are also careful to say the IRS should treat conservative and liberal groups equally, but they’re concerned about an impending tidal wave of attack ads funded by GOP-allied organizations. Much of the funding for those groups is secret, in contrast to the donations lawmakers collect, which must be reported publicly.
One of the most powerful groups is Americans for Prosperity, funded by the billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch. It has already spent close to $30 million on ads attacking Democrats this election cycle.
“If they’re claiming the tax relief, the tax benefit to be a nonprofit for social relief or social justice, then that’s what they should be doing,” said Sen. Mark Begich (D), who faces a competitive race in Alaska. “If it’s to give them cover so they can do political activity, that’s abusing the tax code. And either side."
Asked if the IRS should play a more active role policing political advocacy by groups that claim to be focused on social welfare, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) responded, “Absolutely. Both on the left and the right,” she said. “As taxpayers, we should not be providing a write-off to groups to do political activity, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”
Shaheen called the glut of political spending by self-described social welfare groups that qualify under section 501(c) (4) of the tax code “outrageous.” Shaheen is in a good position now but could find herself embroiled in a tight campaign if former Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass) challenges her.
Sen. Mark Pryor (Ark.), the most vulnerable Democratic incumbent, said the IRS has jurisdiction over 501(c)(4) groups, as well as charities, which fall under section 5/01(c)(3) of the tax code and sometimes engage in quasi-political activity.
“That whole 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4) [issue], those are IRS numbers. It is inherently an internal revenue matter,” he said. “There are two things you don’t want in political money, in the fundraising world and expenditure world. You don’t want secret money, and you don’t want unlimited money, and that’s what we have now.” --SNIP-- -
I think it has been wise for Issa to "keep your enemies close" and let Cummings dig his own grave one mouthful at a time. With all he's got on ol' Elijah now, it won't be terribly hard to make him sing. We'll see how tough that creep really is when confronted with the the rock of Zero's thugs and the prospect of hard time.
