Authorities say the shooter at the Marine Corps base camp is no longer active
A Marine fatally shot a fellow service member at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina Tuesday, the base said in a statement. The shooting occurred at around 5:30 p.m.
The gunman, a Marine standing guard at the base’s main gate, discharged an M4 rifle, killing another guard.
Camp Lejeune’s provost marshal said the shooting is not thought to be an act of terrorism and that the shooter is no longer active.

Local DC NBC 2300 news said they haven’t ruled out an ‘accidental’ shooting...
Back in our day when ‘they’ had sidearms on the gates etc it was called ‘Quick Draw Practice’ and the (bad) result was ‘shooting ONESELF’ while trying to ‘clear leather’.
My son tells me they determined it was accidental. One of the guards just didn’t have his weapon on safe and was careless. What a horrible tragedy. One life gone, one ruined.
Definitely a waste, on both hands.
Glad the USMC put the ‘stops to the rumors’ before the MSM turned it into another circus.
At least BO won’t have to ‘go out of his way’ or ‘force’ the D’s to have a couple of fund raisers in NC to ‘pay for his trip’.
I don’t remember (or really ‘care’) if he showed up at Ft Hood on the ‘first go around’ but when will these ‘so called’ big shots realize they just make the ‘day’ for the victims all the worse by insisting they show up for the photo op.

Let’s see... in 89 I was at El Toro. I spent 80 and 94 on the Rock. I did see a great deal of the island running with the Okinawa Hash House Harriers. The northern area was just spectacular.
