Ma bought a "new" car.

I haven't been car shopping in 30 years. My car is a 1984. LOL!

Good heavens, Ma, I bet you had a "time warp moment" when looking at stickers, and figuring payment.

I've heard great things about Subarus so hubby and I got a pair. We bought the 2013 Crosstrek, which I'm guessing is a lower end SUV compared to the others. Anyhoo, even though it's a step down (or two) from my Saturn, I like having a SUV with back cargo for taking dog to vet without having to sit in my back seat LOL.

However, Mr. Beachy said it didn't handle well in the snow. We need to find out why since they are supposed to be great, especially the model you got. I didn't drive in any of the number of snow storms we had so I can't say how it handles.

From all I've read so far, owners opinions as well as the magazine reports, the newly improved Forester is one of the best, even in snow.

I'd like to trade my mom's Honda for one or maybe the Crosstrek, but personally I'm keeping my Outback. In all the places I've taken it so far, it's been as good as my all three of my 4WD Tacomas have been.

As a hauler, I prefer it's longer and lower station wagon dimensions over the taller shorter dimensions of SUVs like CR-Vs, etc. The volume is the same, but it's just better for what I carry. Plus, the backseat leg and headroom was a pleasant surprise. Great all around compromise.

I never even looked at or thought of Subarus until my neighbor showed me his "new" 2012 OB. I bought mine a week later and still thank him. The only real complaint I have is the dealer's mechanics, but that seems to be the same with all brands.
