Rich man who pled guilty to raping his young daughter gets probation

Via David Freddoso, money can’t buy happiness and it can’t buy love but maybe it can buy you a light sentence after you molest your three-year-old.

A Superior Court judge who sentenced a wealthy du Pont heir to probation for raping his 3-year-old daughter noted in her order that he “will not fare well” in prison and needed treatment instead of time behind bars, court records show.

Judge Jan Jurden’s sentencing order for Robert H. Richards IV suggested that she considered unique circumstances when deciding his punishment for fourth-degree rape. Her observation that prison life would adversely affect Richards was a rare and puzzling rationale, several criminal justice authorities in Delaware said. Some also said her view that treatment was a better idea than prison is a justification typically used when sentencing drug addicts, not child rapists…

He wouldn’t fair well in prison. Obviously his daughter didn’t fair well in the prison she was in either. And her father was the warden.

Personally, I believe proper punishment would be to put him in the general population with a “child molester” sign on his back.

Of course its one more step to the Utopian liberal goal of total elimination of the pederasty laws.

Progressives want to be free to live like the Hittites and Ammonites and do it anytime they please with anyone they please.

Accusations of incest will be labeled as intolerant and hate speech.

This and legal drugs is what they want, they really don’t think other issues are important and are willing to compromise on them

In cases like this, I’m not real particular about the form justice takes.

This country is getting to be to much like Europe as far as the death penalty goes, most never get worse than life in prison if that. No for something as vile as this I think general population prison justice is in order, but the so called Judge in his verdict is now just as guilty as far as I am concerned and should join this excrement that raped his little girl in swift, extreme, barbaric pain and suffering.

"Judge Jan Jurden’s sentencing order for Robert H. Richards IV suggested that she considered unique circumstances when deciding his punishment for fourth-degree rape"

That it was even reduced to that lesser charge raises serious questions. According to a linked story in the article, Richards was initially facing two counts of "second-degree rape of a child – Class B violent felonies that carry a mandatory (emphasis mine) 10-year prison term for each count."

According to the article, the 4th degree plea was offered up by prosecutors just a few days before the trial. I can see that, maybe, if only to spare the child the pain of having to testify in court. But the prosecutor also recommended probation, which stinks to high heaven.

This crud should be doing hard time. At the end of a rope, preferably.

I don't believe that these outcomes are relegated just to the rich.

Had a relative that worked for the public defender's office in a fairly large city.

In the urban areas these types of cases were not uncommon and similar sentences appear to be more routine rather than exceptional.

Personally I believe hanging is too humane.

"probation for raping his 3-year-old daughter noted in her order"

I'm not for the death penalty, but I'm against a demon killing an innocent soul. This cannot be pardoned or fixed. It must not continue.

Now I'll grab the trash can and barf.
