So far Rand Paul is my man, foreign policy notwithstanding, because he's so clear that by far the greatest threat to America and our freedoms is the large, unconstitutional, socialist federal government. I want somebody who will CLOSE DOWN most of the cabinet departments, MOST of the administrative state, and MOST of the IRS with taxes being cut to a flat 10% to 15%. And, as Reagan did, build the best military and intelligence community in the world and don't listen to the weak, sad, self-opposing Leftists. Weakness, not strength, invites aggression. This is the way back home folks.

Once we get strong economically, militarily, and morally, we'll be able to take on aggressive nations like Russia and China who threaten us and other free nations.

Once we are spiritually strong, we can once again be a light to the world. No, it isn't about Rand Paul, but its a start. It's really about the American People taking charge of their lives and their country by God's grace.

Yeah! Two first term Senators are the front runners. We are sure to lose if we keep this crap up.

CPAC needs to be changed to LPAC.

Libertarians are not conservative.

No defense of marriage.

No defense of human life.

Libertarians selectively deform the state to allow civil rights abuses.

Like Cruz. Like palin.

Rand Paul is neo isolationist.

The young Republicans were in force at CPAC. They voted to legalize marijuana too. So, Rand Paul got their votes. Drudge has a voting going on... Paul and Cruz are about even in that count.

CPAC was loaded with young conservatives. I wouldn’t put to much weight into that poll.

Here's how I see the race shaping up, as an observer...not an advocate.

Yes, Paul has the slim majority right now and is likely to do well in the debates. He is starting to make the (l)ibertarian wing of the party respectable.

Of course Cruz will dominate every debate and EVERYONE will credit him for it. He'll finish strong, at least, in the primaries.

There will be an evangelical/values candidate to keep morality in view. This is necessary to stop the (L)ibertarians from dominating. But neither Huckabee (the nicest guy in America, no kidding) or Santorum will attrack enough votes to win. They're power brokers.

IF Palin starts exploring I believe she will shake things up substantially. She'll siphon off votes from both Paul the (l)ibertarian (Palin is from the western school of little (l)ibertarians, not unlike Goldwater and Reagan and Cheney) and from Cruz ( a little bit of everything and big C (C)onservaitve all the way.

But Cruz is showing to be a Neo Con...at least that's my perception and one I hope he'll endeavor to clarify and disprove (ok, that part was opinion).

Certainly Cruz is the most articulate of any Republican since Reagan.

Then there will be the Chamber of Commerce/Full on Amnesty candidate. Bush, Christie...it doesn't matter. They're all the same. They'll have money, media and organizational support. Big institutional support.

But it won't be enough this time.

Additionally Neo Cons are being marginalized. Most folks on the American Right are tiring of their sh!t.

IF Palin runs, I see a Paul-Palin Ticket.

If she does not, I see a Cruz-Paul ticket NARROWLY defeating the establishment candidate.

2016 will have a radical flavor...with a good dose of morality.

Am sure others pointed this out here multiple times, but a small % ever take part in the poll, thats been the way its gone down for years.

I dont say this out of any dislike for any of the Paul`s, they always win this and its dishonest the way that its always covered.

Just watched Sarah give the keynote address (she was fabulous) I watched it on Fox News, Greg Jarret was the host and he laughed and mocked her, it was so so disgraceful

I hope that he is spoken to about his outrageous behavior

There’s always a mass presence of Paul-heads at cpac. I went during the last presidential race and enjoyed talking to all the college age Ron Paul voters there. I am surprised Cruz didn’t get closer overall though.

After 15 years of big government statism it’s great to see Freedom and Liberty making a long overdue return. Go Rand.

I like Carson a lot but, sadly, Obama probably has ruined the chances of any black man to win the presidency for at least the next 50 years.

I’d be happy with Paul, Cruz and/or Palin for Pres./VP.

To me the real news here is that Ben Carson came in at all. He’s never made a move to run for President and this shows that he can rally the troops without lifting a finger.

There are about a billion reasons I want Ben, yes he’s black and according to President Obama’s example, that should make him bullet proof. But more than that, he’s educated, articulate, conservative, and he earned everything he has. I believe he would push to get us back to a truly free country.

The person who buses the most people in for the straw poll wins at CPAC. It requires a heavy investment of not only paying for the buses but also the registrations. Usually they all show up on the bus just for the voting only.
