The Russian Navy Ochakov Kara-class cruiser was sunk last night to block the Ukrainian Navy ships deployed in Novoozerne, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence said in a press release today.
The information was confirmed by the Ukrainian military of the South Naval Base who were observing the operation.
The RF ships blocking the Ukrainian ships in Donuzlav lake in the Crimea left the zone at 23.30 p.m. (March 5).
Then, the Russian military towed their ship Ochakov to the navigating channel and filled her with water. Then, there was an explosion. The depth in this area is 9-11 m, it is possible now to observe the upper part of the ship. Therefore, the ships cannot leave the Donuzlav lake. It is needed a lot of time and costs to refloat this ship, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense

No problem. I knew you meant the Ruskies were lying.
OK, so why aren’t the environmentalist wackos all over this one.
because they love Commies
Vlad is really losing face here on FR, only weeks after there was a FR/Putin lovefest over his restrictions on gay propaganda.
Had he said he was sinking the vessel to keep Ukrainian gays from infiltrating mother Russia, he might have gotten some of that love back.
Instant garbage—just add water.
Neville Chamberlain??
President - Albert François Lebrun, President of France (19321940)
yes, you are right
Thank you for bringing Lebrun to my attention
Do you think they’d mind if we block the Bosphorus?
I think we’ve all been waiting for the Russians to provoke the Ukrainians into shooting.
So if we had a different leader, we would go to war with Russia, or Russia wouldn’t do this? Why would they not do this, no matter who was in charge here, as it is obvious we wouldn’t go to war over it. I am as unimpressed with Obama as anyone, but this is all about Putin.
That's not how this is supposed to work.
There are a lot of things that could have prevented or stopped Putin, none of which included a shooting war.
Russia is a 3rd World Country desperate to sell the only thing anyone else sees they have as valuable, Natural Gas.
IIRC, this "blockade of a sort" was used during the revolutionary war to trap the British ships after they had entered the Chesapeake. (This is from memory...might have to retract.)
It led to "The World Turned Upside Down".
So if we had a different leader, we would go to war with Russia, or Russia wouldnt do this? Why would they not do this, no matter who was in charge here, as it is obvious we wouldnt go to war over it. I am as unimpressed with Obama as anyone, but this is all about Putin.
You don’t have to go to war. You just have to respond in a robust way to terroristic acts like invading the neighbor of a NATO country with a fifth column. Significant economic sanctions and NATO redeployment for an opening move would have given Putin pause. It must be made clear to Putin that if he wants to be a terrorist it is going to be painful and costly. That hasn’t happened so he will continue escalating. His adventures won’t end until we have shooting in a NATO country. Then what?
If our administration hadn’t signaled its weakness ever since 2008, we wouldn’t be here at all
now we are helpless in the face of aggression
no, we can’t go to war now, we couldn’t fight our way out a wet paper bag at this point with our depleted armed forces, but it is a very similar situation to the one that started in 1938, so let’s see where we are in about 4-5 years, how much Russia has gobbled up
And he looks manly on a horse; so he must be a good guy. /s
In retaliation Barack Obama has ordered the sinking of the the USS Ronald Reagan. “Ha! Top THAT Putin!”
It would be a pity if anyone blocked the Bosporus...
