> The Department of Legislative Services believes it would cost about $300,000 to create the database.

Sorry, $300,000 won’t even cover the cost of installing the software, much less maintaining it and making it usable.
This won’t be some little mom and pop bookkeeping program hosted on someone’s PC.

With the “or” added, it is clear the behavior wasn’t a felony, so just what would this include?

Exactly. Vague wording works for them. They can then invoke this to deny anyone they care to their Constitutionally protected right. Well, they can try.

This also sets a bad precedent. Gee, why shouldn't we link to XYZ too. After all, would you want someone who is X owning a gun? Eventually they'll find a reason to try to deny everyone.

Not tinfoil hat. This is so obviously their agenda it isn't even remotely funny anymore. Remember all the assurances that registration was just about keeping firearms out of the hands of criminals. (how they planned to convince criminals to try to register I don't know but...) They said loudly and repeatedly "Oh, be serious, we'd never use registration to confiscate your guns! What nut-jobs!" Well, look at what has happened in California, what is happening in Connecticut, and what they're proposing in Maryland. Every single one of them has been revealed as the lying sacks of excrement they are. Never trust a liberal, ever.

The NRA et. al. and all those people decried as "gun nuts" were right: REGISTRATION IS CONFISCATION. It is only a matter of time. NEVER REGISTER YOUR FIREARMS, NEVER SURRENDER THEM.

they would find 10 percent of registered gun owners...

This is strictly an aside but have you ever wondered why that "10 percent" shows up so frequently in a discussion of almost any subject calling for an estimate? I suspect it's because the number is pulled out of thin air and seems reasonable.

The citizenry voted them in which makes them gun grabbers, too. What are you going to do with them???

You’ve got to take into consideration the fact people vote Dem only is most likely because they come from a Dem family. I believe many of those you describe only listened/read liberal MSM. But there is creedence to the fact many are from the 60’s Woodstock, LSD, anti-war crowd. And YES,,,, some of them are just plain ignorant.

I don’t understand why that is unclear. Felonies or violent crimes. Many felonies are not violent, and I’m sure a few violent outbursts are not officially felonies.

“1.1 million records in Maryland’s gun registry and more than 3 million in the criminal”

Am I the only 1 that thinks this doesn’t speak well for Maryland?

State Police estimate that if they linked the databases, they would find 10 percent of registered gun owners — about 110,000 people — would be disqualified.

I was just getting ready to mention that all of the criminals with unregistered guns would still be out there, but your graphic says it all.
