ARIZONA GOVERNOR VETOES RELIGIOUS FREEDOM BILL
AP ^ | 2/26/14 | BOB CHRISTIE

Gov. Jan Brewer on Wednesday vetoed a Republican bill that set off a national debate over gay rights, religion and discrimination and subjected Arizona to blistering criticism from major corporations and political leaders from both parties.

Brewer's decision defused a national furor over gay rights and religious freedom.

The bill backed by Republicans in the Legislature was designed to give added protection from lawsuits to people who assert their religious beliefs in refusing service to gays. But opponents called it an open attack on gays that invited discrimination.

The bill thrust Arizona into the national spotlight last week after both chambers of the state legislature approved it. As the days passed, more and more groups, politicians and average citizens weighed in against Senate Bill 1062. Many took to social media to criticize the bill, calling it an attack on gay and lesbian rights.

Uh ... no, it didn't. Christians now know they're officially second-class citizens.

That was the only reason I liked that bill. It would have sent a message to the nfl to stuff it.

Other than that, it was bad law and it deserved to die.

This is only the beginning. In time each and every one of these godless pols will be stepping down and running for cover.

I'm not so sure. I sense a growing mood of hopeless resignation and defeatism taking hold among conservatives and traditionalist Americans

If a gay or politician calls your business and you dont want to serve them. Just say you are too busy. You dont have to serve who you dont want to.

A side note: If you believe this type of thing. I ve heard preachers, some say the anti christ will be a homosexual. It kinda makes sense because I believe homosexuality is called an abomination. So the one who is a leader of Satans kingdom would be what God hates. Those who are the enemies of God are being exposed now.

I guess I just don’t get it, lately. Why should someone’s activity in their bedroom come to such legal/constitutional crises? I’ve lived too long . . .

Look at the bright side:

If a gay black player for the Arizona Cardinals wants a wedding cake with the “n” word on it...they can force ANY bakery to make it for them!

Good point! The NFL threatened Arizona with moving the Superbowl. Good, the NFL should take its Superbowl and all of the rest of its games and put them where the sun shineth not. The NFL is hereby adding promotion of homosexuality (NOWHERE to be found in the actual Constitution) and repression of religious rights (First Amendment) to its previous refusal to allow advertising by the National Rifle Association or other gun advertisers (First and Second Amendments).

Make the National Football League and other "businesses" similarly situated (Marriott, American Airlines and who else?) bleed financially.

God bless you and yours!

Well, it looks like those evil, vile satanists on the left bullied and intimidated their way into successfully leaving the door wide open to further suppress the First Amendment rights and religious freedoms of Arizona business owners. The American left and the militant homo-nazis are degenerating into nothing but a bunch of home-grown domestic terrorists.

Civil war... It’s-a comin’.

The only freedom of religion still standing in America is going to be the worship of the anus.

This country is truly in a death-spiral. By the time it reaches its last gasp, it will probably be a point actually worthy of celebration rather than mourning, considering the depths of evil it is descending to.

She was pressured out of it.

The left has more political clout than us. That's why EVERY SINGLE PIECE of their agenda is being pushed through.

Sucks that we have to push through laws to reaffirm what's already in the Constitution.

cancelling the NFL Directv package this year. Not just on their PC crap but the quality of the product is terrible. They’ve watered down teams so much it is 2nd rate compared to 15 years ago. Teams with giant weaknesses win almost every year. The Seahawks may be the exception to that this year with quality in all parts of their game, but the playoffs this year only had one or two really quality games.

Hugh Hewitt was just talking to an Arizona conservative activist and he was very concerned to make sure that no one would think that he is ‘homophobic’.

No, Hugh, those of us unfortunate enough to subject ourselves to your phony ‘conservatism’ would never accuse you of being homophobic. That’s an honor you don’t deserve.

Any chance the Arizona Legislature will over-ride her veto?

Time for an over-ride of her jelly-fish veto.
