Gov. Jan Brewer on Wednesday vetoed a Republican bill that set off a national debate over gay rights, religion and discrimination and subjected Arizona to blistering criticism from major corporations and political leaders from both parties.
Brewer's decision defused a national furor over gay rights and religious freedom.
The bill backed by Republicans in the Legislature was designed to give added protection from lawsuits to people who assert their religious beliefs in refusing service to gays. But opponents called it an open attack on gays that invited discrimination.
The bill thrust Arizona into the national spotlight last week after both chambers of the state legislature approved it. As the days passed, more and more groups, politicians and average citizens weighed in against Senate Bill 1062. Many took to social media to criticize the bill, calling it an attack on gay and lesbian rights.

EXACTLY. And yet every Jan. 15 they all line up to kiss the buttocks of the oh so holy Rev. Dr. MLK, and spout bullcrap about how he’d be a republican, while all of his liberal progressive buddies tear us to shreds.
Is there a man near Houston who wants to go with me to a mosque and ask to be married? You KNOW we’ll be turned down. Then we can raise hell. Maybe this should be done all over the country. And we don’t have to pretend to be gay. In fact, we can scream that we’re straight but we want to get married in a mosque.

Better Idea. Someone needs to post a listing of all queer bakers in every state. Then we need to all walk in to our local faaaaaabulous baker and demand a cake with Bible verses detailing the Biblical stance on Homosexuality. Or maybe a “Rev. Fred Phelps Birthday cake”...or “Good Luck with the Gay Bashing, Bob!”...
Maybe go for an Arizona constitutional amendment. Much better than going to SCOTUS which probably would open the door for more federal unconstitutional usurping of our freedoms.

Why does it need a long, involved list to tell them what the bible already told them almost 2000 years ago?

Go figure, such attitudes is why there is so much intolerance.
It doesn’t. The list is for the readers, the laity. the Catechism is for the laity, not the clergy.
It gives references. It states that they consulted the Bible, and where they did so.
I just post it to illustrate that the Bible is certainly regarded in this situation, and that in at least this religion, does not rely on Leviticus.

I didn’t mean to imply that what you suggest can’t be done covertly, but just as in Canada, it would attract firebombs and government censure if done openly.

Anyway, I deal with homosexuals, and I don’t talk with them about their homosexual behavior, giving them the benefit of the doubt that they engage in that behavior, and letting them know I am Catholic and am available to them if they ever want to discuss that, knowing that at least a couple of them were raised catholic, and otherwise.
I teach my kids to be charitable to homosexuals, as we are called to do. and, again, we never discuss sex.
If they asked me to condone their behavior, I would, in the case of photography, just have good references available in order to refer them to someone who would do the work. I’d say I was busy, and if pressed tell them the truth, in a charitable way.
I am available if they want to convert, to refer or counsel them in my capacity, but I don’t expect to change them, and Likewise, they don’t expect to change me. WE agree to disagree.
I know they suffer ridicule, but I’m not going to do the same for them, I don’t ridicule them, never have.
But what’s wrong with just referring them to people who will do the service? Do people step out of bounds and try to change them?

Since the goal of the left is that businesses be no longer able to refuse service- I will get some friends together and we can go to the poshest 5 star Beverly Hills restaurants in our bare feet, wearing our oldest worn out jeans, and rattiest t-shirts, and demand to be served
After we finish our meal, we'll go to one of those snooty clubs that prides itself on only letting certain "perfect" people in.

this country was built by people willing to give their lives for it.

that is an interesting point.
It’s from where I get my sense of local commerce. We had what we called Jewish Delis.
On sundays we would stop after church and get lunch. The tile floor... I can smell the food just writing about it. If they didn’t have something, they would smile and tellus they didn’t have it. It was up to us to respect their situation and figure it out. Once in a while they’d tellus where, from a competitor, we could get it. I was a kid, I’m talking about parents.
No animosity. No struggle to convert anyone either way. Not our business.
This homosexuality thing is different. They’re trying to make it a protected class, and that’s a problem especially with a lawful and corrupt government and a complicit propaganda media.
But just with local commerce, there is a way to be kind and accommodating.
Te NM cas is disconcerting, their having lost the case. I gotta say.
