As in the previous Sen. Lindsey Graham phone town hall meeting, there was no warning; the phone rang and it was Sen. Graham conducting the town hall meeting. Senator Graham expressed his genuine concern for each caller, asking if they are warm and have power. He explained he was "stuck" in Washington, DC, since all flights out of DC were cancelled. The implication was that he would rather be headed back to South Carolina to be with "his people".
Senator Graham answered numerous calls that were presented to be random participants of the town hall meeting (dial *3 to get in line to ask a question). All of the callers were were pro Sen. Graham except for one caller, who accused Sen. Graham of voting for Obamacare, for which Lindsey straightened him out and they departed best friends forever. Most of the callers were polished, and all but the previously mentioned asked softball questions. One caller asked if Lindsey would consider running for President, but he replied "there are already plenty of qualified candidates running in June" (Freudian slip; that is when the SC Senate primary for Lindsey's seat occurs). He corrected that to "in 2016".
My opportunity to ask a question never came up, although I waited and listened to the whole town hall meeting. Even though I am a shaky telephone caller, my question would have been one of the two:
1) Senator Graham, just within the past year, you and Senator McCain campaigned for war against Syria. Don't you think the people of South Carolina have had enough wars in the past decade?
2) Senator Graham, why did you ally with Senator McCain in trying to get amnesty passed, when you know Senator McCain is not popular in South Carolina, and amnesty is not in the best interests in workers in your state who are seeking employment, nor in the best interests of SC taxpayers who must pay for their benefits.
Wish I'd had a dollar for each time Senator Graham used the word "conservative". I have attended a Mark Sanford telephone town hall meeting, and it lasted 3 times as long with many times more questions. It was obvious from Mark's town hall meeting that the calls were really at random, since some were definitely not supportive.
We in SC have suffered the past 11 years with Senator Graham, and have a good chance to replace him with a reliable conservative. It will take a candidate with name recognition (Trey Gowdy or Mark Sanford, etc.) to unseat the maverick McCain understudy Lindsey Graham. Help us defeat Lindesy Graham!
Well done, sir knight.
If you want to go to battle, I got your left flank.
If you want to go to battle, I got your left flank.
Thank you.
The stakes are far too high in this race. We cannot afford to lose: that may mean we are stuck with the maverick axis of Lindsey Graham/John McCain for another 6 years. If you have ideas, I am all ears.
Damn, just what we need around here, another leftist.
“Damn, just what we need around here, another leftist.”
LOL!
” If you have ideas, I am all ears.”
Fer shur.
I just triggered a few rounds . My ears are ringing/singing. Until the drums stop beating, let’s chase the worm at the end of the tequila bottle. I’ll go first.
(Just having a spot of fun. Semper fi, Media)
I’ll take you up on that. Let’s have a couple of rounds!
