Cornyn for the GOP nomination (LSM Endorsement)
San Antonio Express News ^ | 2/7/14 | EXPRESS-NEWS EDITORIAL BOARD

Posted on 02/10/2014 6:50:21 AM PST by jimbo123

We recommend incumbent John Cornyn for the GOP's U.S. Senate nomination, based on unmatched experience and decades of service to Texas.

The theme among a bevy of challengers seems to be that Cornyn is a CINO, a conservative in name only. This is not just counter-intuitive but counter-factual. Various ratings — liberal and conservative — have agreed on one thing, Cornyn's conservative credentials are genuine.

Not conservative? Cornyn is No. 2 in Senate leadership and diverged only slightly from the conservative playbook in a year in which he offered a measure that would further beef up security at the border — a mantra on the right — and a year in which the government was shut down in obedience to the right's war on the Affordable Care Act.

Cornyn's challengers have another playbook in mind — the one that Texas' junior Sen. Ted Cruz used to deny conservative David Dewhurst a Senate seat in 2012. Cruz claimed the lieutenant governor was not conservative enough.

John Cornyn claims to be the 2nd most conservative member of the Senate.

Yet, as Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, he
hand-selected these "Republican" candidates:
  • Arlen Specter - Democrat
  • Charlie Crist - Democrat
  • Lincoln Chafee - Democrat
  • Lisa Murkowski - Independent

Also, when he had a chance to stop ObamaCare by supporting Ted Cruz' filibuster

he FAILED

and hid behind a meaningless vote later.

He pulled the same trick on the Senate amnesty bill.

Cornyn should be replaced. He is not the man for the job.

San Antonio Express Bird-Cage Liner recommends John McCornyn, huh?

Just another damned good reason to see him Primaried out of office.

Cornyn is a liar and hypocrite, IMO.

I'll not be voting for him.

LOL. What a coinkidink!

I’m voting AGAINST Cornyn in the primary — for essentially the same reasons! His “unmatched experience” is a record of amnesty promoting, going-along-to-get-along, and budget busting, and another way of saying “decades of service” is “been in Washington too damn long”.

I’ll bet Cornyn can’t even draw an outline of Texas anymore. But I’ll bet you he can describe in detail the interior of Joe Manchin’s yacht!

*************

Supposedly Austin for Cornyn and Houston for Cruz. It maybe
surburbs rather than city proper for either or both.

Thanks for this article.

________

The San Antonio Express-News Editorial Board did an excellent job of stating why Senator Cornyn, and the rest of the GOP Establishment should NOT be supported at the ballot box, or financially, in TEXAS, or any other GOP-E Candidate anywhere else in America, when they wrote this quote:

” - - - We see, in Cornyn’s eventual public disavowal of using government shutdown as a tool to defund the Affordable Care Act, glimmers that the senator could be among those urging a return to more governance and less stymied government.

Mostly, we see no such glimmers among his opponents.

Cornyn is the clear choice for the GOP’s U.S. Senate nomination for Texas. - - - - “

____________

The newspaper has thus clearly defined why the GOP Establishment Philosophy is so vehemently opposed by the former members of THE SILENT MAJORITY, and their direct descendants, THE TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY PARTY.

The reason that the old GOP Establishment “go along to get along” Method, or as the paper put it: “ a return to more governance and less stymied government” is stymied is because a few Republicans such as Senators Cruz and Lee stood up and became our last line of defense against the forces of evil that want full, single payer, “universal,” Federal control of all of our remaining Liberties.

Since the newspaper has freely chosen the side that wants to crush our Liberties, by choosing to support the usual Cave-In Republican Candidate, we here at Free Republic should freely choose to oppose them.

_________________

Let us examine, for a moment, a partial list of what the ‘Austin-San Antonio Liberal Democrat Metroplex’ finds abhorrent about “ - - - using government shutdown as a tool to defund the Affordable Care Act - - - .”

Failure by Senator Cornyn and the rest of the GOP Establishment to defund Obamacare (ACA) has achieved the following:
* Creation of a Federal Monopoly that is above US Anti-Trust Laws;
* Put Politics above Country by appointing unelected, political people to make Obamacare decisions for us;
* Allowed incompetent Obamacare Leaders to do unpunished;
* Allow incompetent Contractors to go unpunished;
* Intimidated the, gullible, weak, cowardly, milquetoast Republican leadership, especially Speaker Boehner, and including Cornyn, from starting ANY subpoena-based investigations;
* Increased the National Poverty Debt;
* Increased the National Poverty Defeit;
* Decreased the National Workforce % to its lowest level in 35 years;
* Increased the Obama Labor Depression;
* Increased the taxpayer-funded ‘Obama Anti-Labor Subsidies in the form of “free” Obamacare;
* Increased the cost of Medical Insurance on all Americans;
* Forced Businesses to reduce the number of full time employees;
* Forced Businesses to reduce expanding their business operations;
* Forced Businesses to greatly reduce borrowing money from Private Banks;
* Deprived millions of American of their freedom of choice to keep their previous health insurance policies;
* And provided national and international hackers, criminals, the IRS and the Department of Gestapo Justice, ( DOGJ ), with all of the individual specific personal financial and medical information necessary to blackmail, extort, harm and/or control all Americans from now on.

____________________

Returning a GOP Establishment to office to always Cave In to the democrats, is the same as voting in a Democrat in the first place.

A Republican in name only is just a Democrat spelled “RINO.”

______________________

A vote in the 2014 Primary and November Election to approve of ANY GOP Establishment US Senator or House of Representatives who opposed the defunding of Obama’s Affordable Care Act, is a vote to approve of the idea that we, the voters, are powerless against the combined might of Obama, the Democrats, and the Republicans whom we have voted to enslave us, our children, our Grandchildren, and all of their descendants in the Hell Hole of Communist Obamanation.

IF the 2014 Primary and Congressional election cycle is not the best time to vote out the candidates who are proven GOP Establishment Politicians, THEN when would that time be?

Tick-tock - - -

I often wonder how may FRequent users here have taken the time to write a letter to the editor in another city or bothered to get involved in on line discussions at a paper like the one cited here.

Cornyn's conservative credentials are genuine.

That's funny. He doesn't have any conservative credentials.
