The 3,000-year-old inscription that could prove Old Testament stories are TRUE

A small fragment of ancient pottery researchers believe shows the first wine label could prove that the reigns of King Solomon and King David actually occurred.

The 10th century BC 'Ophel Inscription' was unearthed last year, and scientists were initially baffled by the bizarre language that was inscribed on the remains of a jug.

A new translation reveals the contents of a jar was 'lousy' plonk intended for slaves - and sheds new light on society at the time.

The label dates from second half of the 10th Century BC and was discovered in the Ophel area of Jerusalem, south of Temple Mount+7 The label dates from second half of the 10th Century BC and was discovered in the Ophel area of Jerusalem, south of Temple Mount The word on the pitcher reads 'yayin' or wine and he believes it should read 'in the year [¿ ]M, wine, part, m[¿]' in a form of ancient Hebrew, according to professor Galil+7

The discovery was made in the ruins of a Byzantine public structure located in the Ophel region - between the city of David and around 50 metres from the southern wall of the First Temple. Temple Mount is considered one of the most religious sites in Jerusalem and is where two biblical Jewish temples once stood.

It is also a site of Muslim interest site known as the Haram as-Sharif, or Noble Sanctuary.

Of course it is true. The Bible presents it as fact, and therefore it is. Regardless or how long it takes archeologists to catch up with the truth of Scripture.

He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Highest. And the Lord God shall give Him the throne of His father David. — Luke 1:32 MKJV

David was real, David’s throne was real, a lineage that is heir to that throne still lives and will continue to live to the time when Jesus will return to claim it and fulfill this promise.

'We are dealing here with real kings, and the kingdom of David and Solomon was a real fact,'

I didn't know anyone doubted it.

And they went to great lengths to make a record of what was happening at the time and then even more to guard it. The youth of today are so online media oriented they can’t grasp the thought of having any historical records recorded in a book offline somewhere hence they don’t believe it happened. Wouldn’t it be funny if their online identities were erased so they might begin to grasp the concept of what is real or not?

so, who thought this wasn’t true? I thought David & Solomon were historical figures, or I am just dumb? I actually studied from the Bible for an ancient history class I had once.

Don’t really know much about the Bible, but I never doubted these were actual guys, never doubted that David wrote the Psalms, even if the baby story was maybe made up.

Set me straight, Freepers!

President B-O saw one of the jugs they found marked “Goliath”, and he mistook it for a commandment telling him what to say in his speech tonight: “Go! Liath!”

I had a law professor that gave me the best reason to believe that the Bible is historically correct. The professor was a big liberal, but also an ancient history buff. He said that all ancient historians removed all of the bad things and only recalled the good things. As a historical document, it is exceptional that the Jews wrote such detail with warts and all.

A fellow student brought up that such and such governor did not rule during such a period, so the Bible was defective. The professor popoo'ed any discrepancy about who was governor at such a period, because "we really don't know who was "governor during that time" except what was written in the Bible." And not five years later I read an article; which stated that the archeologist were astounded when they found direct evidence that the name of the governor during a certain period was what the Bible said it was, rather than several centuries later as what was earlier believed. Kind of like the Governor John Brown lived served in 1825 and his great great grandson, John Brown, served in 1950.

Actually, the Old Testament will prove whether these books are true.
