Feds: Illegal money funneled to SD pols

The owner of a Washington, D.C.-based campaign firm and a former San Diego police detective are accused of conspiring with a foreign national to illegally inject more than $500,000 into San Diego political races, including the 2012 mayoral contest, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Ravneet Singh, 41, founder of ElectionMall Inc., was arrested Friday by FBI agents and is charged alongside his company and Ernesto Encinas, 57, the former detective, with conspiracy to commit offenses against the United States.

According to Tuesday’s complaint, Singh and Encinas helped a Mexican businessman donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to San Diego candidates. Under federal law, foreign nationals are prohibited from making contributions to election campaigns in the United States at any level.

The complaint identified the political candidates involved only by number — 1 through 4. A confidential source close to the investigation told U-T San Diego that Candidate 1 is San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis, Candidate 3 is former Mayor Bob Filner and Candidate 4 is former mayoral contender Nathan Fletcher.

The source didn’t know who Candidate 2 was, although the complaint said the candidate ran for federal office in 2012.

Ah the bright palette of America — an Indian and a Mexican using another Mexican’s money to throw elections.

Yep, I see the San Diego Union Tribune still hasn’t learned how to spell “Democrat”, so rather than embarrass themselves,....

In other words nothing will happen to them.

Move on, nothing to see here.

Contrast this article, that conveinently failed to mention the party of the offenders, to the article that specifically mentioned the party of the former Republican governor of Virginia.

All they need to do is to say they drank too much iced tea, and were out of the room when the illegal fund transfers were [allegedly] discussed.

I suspect that foreign interests ROUTINELY influence our elections. All of our rare earth mines were shut down by EPA or lawsuits or activists, and China is now the global sole source.

Anything that removes our dependence on Arab oil is resisted ferociously [windmills and solar do not threaten the flow].

Then there is Most Favored Trading Status for China, after they got their CRAY supercomputer and nuclear codes and designs for W87 warheads, coupled with Charlie Trie, Elaine Kanchanalak, Johnny Chung, John Huang, and the rest, including the poor Buddhist monks who handed Gore a fat check.

Hmmmm could it be http://ballotpedia.org/Scott_Peters? They should just name the person so everybody doesn’t fall into the speculation bag. It seems they are protecting and that makes it seem even more likely it is Scott Peters.

They must have tried to sneak by without giving the DNC their share of the bribe money.

San Diego police detective are accused of conspiring with a foreign national to illegally inject more than $500,000 into San Diego political races...

And if/when illegals get amnesty, this occurrence will be the new normal.

Not true. San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis is a Republican. She may be a gay, liberal Republican. But she is a Republican. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonnie_Dumanis

Funny thing, this selective persecution (er, prosecution) by the Injustice Department.

See, for 6 years prior to the 2012 selection (er, selection), the democrat national parties were fighting ever-so-hard to remind their on-line donors - who are NOT required to ID anything such as nationality, citizenship, or even address or SSN if they are “donating” under 500.00 US dollars to use a democratic web site that did NOT require any ID nor credit card verification methods ....

There is a close election coming up to replace Filner. A RAT supported by all the unions and GOP Faulkner..a good guy. At stake is the future of San Diego. Whether or not the RATS take over completely and give the Unions everything they want. Maybe this will help Faulkner..since he is clean and most of the money went to RATS. Why they wanted the police chief fired must be related to drugs and immigration. He is a straight shooter and they want a crook.

A good guy? He may be slightly better than his union-owned opponent, but he is far from good.

So I went to Faulconer’s website. Not one word about his party affiliation, despite nearly $1 million in donations from mostly Republican individuals and (non)-affiliated committees. Not a peep about positions on social issues, despite his campaign’s assertion Faulconer is “pro-choice, supports the Dream Act, supports California’s gun control laws, which are the most liberal in the country, etc.”

Faulconer campaign spokesperson Tony Manolatos even challenged Spin to prove that his boss was a social, as well as acknowledged fiscal, conservative, a word you won’t likely hear Faul coner utter often while on this hyper-compacted campaign trail.

Manolatos rattled off Faulconer’s stewardship of Mission Bay while a councilmember, his pro-choice and -LGBT stances and his commitment to gun control as evidence of a social liberal in the making.

Go ahead a vote for the RAT who is tied to the unions. There are only two choices in the election.

I don't vote in the city of SD so I can't. And just because I corrected your insanely false comment about him being a "good guy" doesn't mean I support Alvarez.

You should try not to be so sensitive about being corrected when you are proven wrong, and take it instead as a learning experience. After all, you were wrong. Falcouner is not a "good guy". He is just slightly better than the worst.

Understandable. She is definitely a liberal. A liberal Republican. In my opinion that makes her worse than a democRAT.
