Two stars of 'Duck Dynasty' star in a new film that explores a student's struggle to prove the existence of God.

Willie and Korie Robertson, who are well known for their family reality TV show and their staunch Christian faith, along with The actors  Kevin Sorbo, Shane Harper and Dean Cain, appear in God's Not Dead, to be released on March 21st.

In the movie, college freshman and devout Christian Josh Wheaton (Harper) finds his faith challenged by his dogmatic philosophy professor (Sorbo), who requires his students to disavow the existence of God on the first day of class, signing a declaration that says 'God is dead'. If they refuse, they automatically fail.

Josh faces a choice between his faith and his future, and resolves to stand up for his beliefs against the pressures of his professor. In order to have a chance at passing the class, he agrees to take part in a series of debates in which he must defend his position that 'God is Alive'.

The movie is named after a Newsboys song of the same name, which also features in the film along with the band.

God is Not Dead is already gathering interest from churches across the US, and those behind the movie hope it will equip and encourage believers to share their faith and remain steadfast in their beliefs in an increasingly secular society.

The movie will open in over 600 cinemas across the US on 21 March 2014.

The premise sounds a little heavy handed. Libs do that a lot, but the case can be more powerful if more subtle. A professor that actually did that would get publicity and his school would make him withdraw the requirement. There are lots of professors who teach with this kind of heavy handed indoctrination, but they don’t require oaths. They just use their power over grades to enforce their beliefs.

Funny how times have changed. I remember when someone that looked like Willie Roibertson would have been a liberal and opposed the government. Now its the conservatives that are opposed to the government and the liberals that support it.

The premise sounds a little heavy handed.

Most of these types of films can be on the cheesy or heavy handed side, but I try to support them anyway. This is a strongly growing segment of cinema that will steadily improve with increasing profits and attention.

I think you’re right to an extent, but I can no longer say something like this is unrealistic in light of the videos we saw last year alone. The creepy Obama pledges, the rants about racist Christians, etc.

Professors are emboldened in our culture to say and do what they like, whether its praising mass murderers like Joseph Stalin (and there is a video in which a professor tells his students that nobody died under the Soviet Union), or declaring God dead.

But you’re right it is often more subtle. Political correctness is of course the greatest tool. Current college reading and writing courses are now 90% focused on greivance industry authors like Richard Wright and Langston Hughes, both of whom were communists. There’s also the Feminazi and Gaystapo lobbies getting their sick literature into colleges.
Even down to the books on academic writing like ‘A Writer’s Reference - 7th Edition’ has in it the command never to use the word ‘mankind’ because it “excludes women”.

I think we’re a few years off, but not there yet. So it gives the other side the ability to sneer that we are attacking straw men. Only they are allowed that luxury.

Admiting that it is limited to my experience but most bikers I know, when it comes right down to it, are more conservative, more religious, more like Willie and Duck Dynasty than the Sons of Anarchy program.

Some are libertarian as far as drugs but many have a better than average grasp on constitutional rights.

Stand and defend. There will always be naysayers and haters. The disciple is not above the Master.
