Another possible interpretation of the image at # 45 is this: The third person from the right could have her clothing hidden by a floatation device of a somewhat different color than the bright yellow ones used by the other passengers, placed around the back of her neck and covering her right shoulder and upper right arm. If this were true, it could be Fuddy. Recall that Yamamoto said he was alongside her at that point and the second person from the right is likely Yamamoto.

When you look at pictures of Loretta Fuddy, the lady in the foreground really does look like the same person. But the outfit is not right. Maybe a relative of Fuddy’s.
