I’ve had several years, just like the rest of us, in looking back at the overall effect of George W. Bush as President. I will say this. His drive and determination to protect this country in the aftermath of 9/11/2001 was extraordinary and I am grateful for that.
That said, I honestly believe Bush did irreparable harm to this country, too. In his zeal to defend us from without, he completely ignored those actions, forces and groups within. He even appeased and collaborated with them at times (see Ted Kennedy NCLB, Medicare Prescriptions, et al).
The most egregious and unforgivable thing he did was to create the DHS and the TSA, two of the most oppressive, freedom-stealing organizations that ever existed in this country save the IRS.
In short, he abandoned us economically, fiscally and spiritually (by his abnormal refusal to counter absurd liberal claims and actions against him.) In doing this, he rolled out the red carpet for Emperor Obama.
I pretty much agree with you.
Nixon did much the same harm to the country by installing numerous liberal programs. “Watch what we do; not what we say”. That, not Watergate, was his real crime.
That being said, given the same alternatives, even knowing what I do now, I would make the same choice.
Wow, I didn't know he did that.
When did they change Article two of the Constitution?
