Many years ago, I worked at a major Hollywood studio.
I had lunch with one of the department supervisors and he admitted to me then that not only was he gay—which he had held very closely—but that they wanted such health benefits way back then because of the high cost of paying for their partner’s HIV medicines.
Many of the ‘gay couples’ have only one partner working-—and supporting the health issues of the other partner.
I always wondered if the working partner ever realized that they were signing their own death warrant by continuing to have sex with an infected and active HIV person.
This happened in the very early 70’s-—over 38 years ago.
This attitude of wanting free health care within the HIV community isn’t a new revelation. Just perhaps straights are getting a face full of their demands.
