Republican senators were making a last-ditch bid to undo cuts to military retiree benefits in the House-passed budget deal ahead of a crucial vote Tuesday morning in the Senate.

Alabama GOP Sen. Jeff Sessions filed an amendment late Monday to restore money that was cut from veteran and military retiree pension benefits by closing a loophole that allows illegal immigrants to qualify for child tax credits.

I applaud Sen Sessions' attempt to stop this egregious assault on our retired veterans and currently serving men and women in uniform.

Sadly, it will most likely fail. Reid will probably not even allow a vote on the amendment, specifically because it would turn the magnifying lens onto the Billions that illegal aliens are scamming from the taxpayers.

Over $4 Billion per year is stolen from the US by illegal aliens who use this loophole.

IRS Refunds $4 Billion Child Tax Credits Per Year to Illegal Immigrants Whose Kids Do Not Live in US

The provision to steal retired military Cost of Living will cost them an estimated 20% of their retirement, but will only save $6 Billion over ten years!

Shame on Paul Ryan for engineering this injustice. Shame on Boehner for even allowing the House to vote on it. And Shame on every single DC prostitute who votes against our veterans. They have already sacrificed enough - it is time those who do nothing but TAKE from our nation are forced to be cut....but not our military.

Not bad! I assume that Reid will ignore it.

Is this a case of voting on a bill to find out what it contains, then going oops.... my bad?

So the Rats will give back some of the cuts in exchange to tax increases on the “Rich”. The GOP will claim victory and vote for what’s probably the worst budget ever pulled out of the House’s butt.

Senator Sessions impresses me more each day. Why didn't the conservatives in the HOR catch this outrage? (Oh yeah, they didn't take enough time to read the bill). Ryan's idea of "compromise" is to subsidize invader spawn with money taken from veterans and their families.

Whatta' guy.

If they don’t fix this it will break any trust between the military and the Republican congress, who would be breaking a promise. Not even the Democrats have done that until now, and no one with any sense trusts the dems.

Not good for recruiting, to say the least. And perhaps permanent.

Ryan is acting like a complete and utter dope, not to mention, sleazebag.

This is awful

So, let me get this straight:

The RINO's in the House passed a budget bill that slashes military pensions.

The bill goes to the Senate, where the RINO's stage a "last-ditch principled stand" to "support the troops".

And they do it by trying to tie it in with taking away free sh!t from illegal aliens??

So, the Senate RINO's make it a "poison pill", guaranteeing the amendment will get shot down by the Leftists, but hey, "our intentions were good, that'll fool the teabaggers".

Cut welfare benefits instead.

It seems our Government is determined to give free money to those who have never earned and don’t deserve it it as opposed to following through commitments on taking care of those who have earned the right through their sacrifice to our country.

I am sick and tired of seeing those who served their Nation being treated like dirt, while those who expect to BE SERVED BY the Nation are treated like royalty.

This is probably not the type thread we typically see on the 'Aliens' ping list; but it definitely qualifies. Here's another example of the U.S. bowing to pressure from the powerful amnesty/illegal alien lobby at the expense of American citizens.

Babette makes the point that the cuts in the pensions will not cover even the interest of the amount of spending increases.

Our Veterans and currently serving Military know the (democ)rats hate them. This is why in overwhelming numbers they vote for anyone other than rats. This is also why rats do everything in their power to not honor our Veterans and currently serving Military votes. But everyone knew what I typed ... so this post is worthless.

Cloture just passed with a lot of GOP help. Active duty and retired military need to reflect on the current US leadership both Rat and Pubbie and decide what the future holds.

Ryan has turned into one of those more willing to get along than to stand by his principles. It’s obvious he’s going for the middle of the road voter and is turning into a RINO.

The Republican primary this coming year is one of the most important primaries in our history. This is the one that will determine the course of our country for the next decade. It will lay the groundwork for the 2016 and 2020 Presidential elections. If conservatives value the constitution, we really must fight and not listen to those who are now pretending to be conservative just to stay in office. Not only is our country at stake, but the lives and future of our children and grandchildren will be forever affected by how this 2014 election turns out. And the primary is trigger and the target for setting the direction for how that will happen.

Sessions is my senator. He is the real deal. I often say he is the only one worth saving if they nuked D.C. He would make a great president.

Well said. Unfortunately, the Powers-that-Be know full well which one is the bigger voting block.
