Reflexively distrustful, eager to make powerful enemies, the young journalist whose Mercedes exploded in Los Angeles one night couldnt possibly have died accidentally, could he?
A t the end of his life, Michael Hastings, like many of the progressive journalists he counted among his friends, felt besieged by an overreaching government. Hastings was living in Los Angeles, and at a Beverly Hills theater in April, he took part in a panel discussion about the documentary War on Whistleblowers: Free Press and the National Security State. Interviewed in May on The Young Turks, a talk show on Current TV, Hastings railed against the Obama administration, which has clearly declared war on the press; the only recourse, he said, was for the press to respond: We declare war on you. On May 31, he dashed off an urgent tweet: first they came for manning. Then Assange. Then fox. Then the ap.drake and the other whistle-blowers. Any nyt reporters too. He attended screenings of his friend Jeremy Scahills film Dirty Wars, which seeks to expose the hidden truth behind Americas expanding covert wars, and when leaks about the NSA began appearing in The Guardian, and Edward Snowden was charged with espionage, Hastings was deeply troubled by the revelations and the Justice Departments response. On June 7, his last post for BuzzFeed, where he was a staff writer, focused on Why Democrats Love to Spy on Americans, and at the time of his death, Hastings was working on a profile of CIA director John Brennan for Rolling Stone.

I don't see those extra trees that are in your photo. Is it JUST perspective ? Also, the place seems to be lined with businesses in the photo I posted. In the photo you posted, it looks desolate. I find that odd.
Sigh. LEADS to this one : /
Thanks.
The remains of the car are resting on a median lined with palm trees. Perspective doesn’t show the buildings on either side of the roadway.
I think it’s a matter of perspective. That after photo is from the other side, facing the other direction and is framed to exclude anything on either side of the boulevard.
I remember Breitbart said the exact same thing right before his death: He was working on a big secret story.
Coincidence??
Doubt it.
“Benjamin Wallace probably has no idea that he is libeling a large chunk of people.”
In order to prove libel, you’d have to be able to demonstrate that what he’s saying isn’t true. Good luck with that.
“The guy that breached the file had a bullet in his head a few weeks later. Brennan was his boss.”
Wrong, wrong, wrong. Harris wasn’t involved in the passport case, nor did he work for Brennan.
Yeah, because it’s not like every other journalist on the planet is always chasing “a big story” or something.
Saying that the facts make no difference to a group of people is deliberate libel when you’ve already noted the facts they cite as their reasons to question the narrative. You’ve already acknowledged that they have facts on which their questions are based. People can disagree about the significance of things like the explosion that occurred before the crash, the fact that somebody just happened to be videotaping right there at 2:30 in the morning at the time, the fact that earlier that night he asked his neighbor if he could drive her car because he believed his car had been sabotaged in an effort to murder him, etc..... but don’t mention facts cited by people and then accuse them about not paying attention to facts. Nothing this author wrote negates or explains away any of the cited facts.
The whole gist of the article is that Hastings lived close to the edge. That doesn’t change any of the facts. When a guy tells his neighbor he thinks his car has been rigged to kill him and then documentary footage shows that his car exploded before crashing that very night.... I’d say anybody who writes it off as coincidence is brain-dead.
The simple, documented fact of the explosion before the crash is the evidence that he did NOT die in a car crash. He died in a car explosion. So would this author claim that Hastings’ Mercedes spontaneously combusted - coincidentally, a short time after he told his neighbor he believed the car had been rigged to kill him? If so, then we’ve got a new definition for the word “gullible”.
Paranoia doesn’t make a car explode spontaneously.
The car didn’t blow up by hitting the tree at high speed. The car and accident site (and the engine being 150ft down the road at a right angle to the car) don’t support the official story. But of course you’re a conspiracy theorist nut job if you don’t believe the official story.
Sure looks like there’s a lot more wide, mature palm trees in the other pic...and they’re close together. There’s scant few palm trees, on the boulevard, in your pic.
The “shadowy subculture” (aka “conspiracy kooks”) have been following this story for months. And the MSM is just now getting wind of it. An ambitious young journalist got blown up in his car because he uncovered some seriously damaging information about the Obama administration. And since his death, several of his friends and acquaintances have come up dead or missing. How long did you think they’d be able to keep a lid on this story?
How ironic that a “progressive” journalist was likely murdered by the kind of all-powerful government that progressives have always wanted.
that picture says so much....so much about this case reminds me of Benghazi
Yes, he was all for state spying on it’s citizen’s, just not on reporters.
I could have saved you typing out those three paragraphs, because I am not planning on reading your ranting. Maybe you can find a 9/11 truther and you guys can trade stories.
