Sarah Palin tells Iowa conservatives it's time 'to stiffen our backs'

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who rallied members of the Tea Party in their failed effort to defund Obamacare, lashed out on Saturday against members of the Republican Party who agreed to end the government shutdown.

The 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee's comments during a speech in Des Moines come at a time of division within the party over the strategy conservative members of Congress adopted in forcing a 16-day shutdown of the federal government last month.

Palin told the Christian conservatives in attendance it was time to "stiffen our spines" for the 2014 elections.

"I want to encourage you to make your voice heard, to hold politicians accountable," Palin said.

The bulk of Palin's speech was focused on the nation's current political climate. She drew thunderous applause with her sharp attack on Republicans in Congress who voted in October to raise the nation's debt ceiling and reopen the government.

"They promised that they would do everything in their power to fight against socialized medicine, against Obamacare, but when it came time to stand and defund it, they waved the white flag of surrender and they threw under the bus the good guys who did stand up and fight for us," Palin said.

The same problems the Republicans had with Obamacare, caused the Democrats to shut down the government to shut the Republicans up. Now the chickens are coming home to roost for the Democrats.

Then its time for her to put up or shut up. She should announce she is either running or would take the VP slot if cruz runs.
There can be no more fence sitting now/

Name names Sarah. It's those Senators that are not on our side.

Conservatives are frustrated by the slow pace of politics and anxious for somebody to get behind. But there’s a game that must be played and it is played, like Kabuki theater, at its own pace. Announcing that she would take the VP slot would put Cruz in an incredibly awkward position. Also a politician must be courted otherwise she’s seen as cheap and tawdry. It’s much like dating in that respect.

She’s going to play the role she’s been good at, which is power broker behind the scenes. Assuming she’s not running for the top spot then if she’s asked to take the second seat then she can bargain for part of her agenda. If she can’t bargain for her agenda, by declaring her availability, then she’s lost a lot of chips.

Time to think of Plan B and Plan C because the powers that be don’t want to shake up the Progressive boat- The RINO-Republicans have signed on to be straw men to the wonderful new Communism of the Progressive Left. The Hippies are in control now but they don’t know what they are doing. Marxism doesn’t work. I will put on my swami turban and look into the crystal ball—into the future:
WHAT WILL BE.
2014 More Republicans will be elected—Democrats will lose some seats in the Senate but not enough to change things.
The MSM will push Christie to run (he’s the new Mittens)
There will be a flock of people run for President-—some lackluster debates—Sarah and Trump will threaten to run and not. It will be Christie and Walker or some other chump vs. A) Obama 3rd Term, or B)an Obama Clone like Holder or Hillary. More lackluster debates—Democrat will win by a narrow margine and proclame a new Progressive mandate.
WHAT SHOULD BE DONE (Plan B)
Form the Liberty Party and run a slate of reformers and Tea Party People—people not infected with politics. People like Michael Reagan, Allen West, Mrs Chaney, etc... Sneak into the debates—do some colorful stunts—use internet and new media. Be best if joined by Sarah Palin. OR
(Plan C) We shatter the 2 party system and start five new parties! Far right Constutional Party, New Whig Party, New Bullmoose Greens, American Marxist, etc... If the progressives want Europe—give them muliti-Partied states. No more Commie Dems, no more RINOs -—pull down the system.

What, when the establishment GOP will nominate “solid conservatives” like Chris Christie and Jeb Bush? I think they’d rather see Hillary win.

It would be insane of her to announce either of those now.

Because voters respect Senators more than most people? Because she lacks gravitas without the title of Senator? Why on earth, why would that make such a difference with you?

I wonder if Tom Latham was in the audience.

She is the one doing Karl Rove's job. I say give her the title and the salary and make it official. Rove needs to be kicked to the corner.

“Assuming she’s not running”

Wrong assumption.

Non-candidates don’t go to Iowa.

She’s running.

West is infected. Out of his own mouth, he admits it.

This country needs a paradigm shift before ANY true conservative can be elected. In it’s present state, I don’t believe it is ready to elect a conservative. To much gimee gimee gimee to overcome.

You've hit the nail on the head.

Conservatives not only battle against socialist/commies sitting in all branches of gubbamint, we battle against weak kneed RINOs forces within our own party.

Sad...really sad.
