Both voting precincts in my little town are open but both are voting for school districts outside of mine.

Lol, call off the dogs, negative on the troll label. I stand in solidarity with my fellow teabaggers.

Even my kids think the mature labels we are given are funny.

WalMart should just offer a 52" LED TV for 500 bucks, the you'd see a stampede of black faces out of the polling lines. "Chantelle yuz see, theyz offa a TV for 500, let's blow this joint, gona git me sum"

If VA puts McAuliffe into the Governor’s mansion, then you might as well kiss this country goodbye - because I think this contest a very good bellwether for what the 2014 midterms will produce - much to the surprise of many ... Some just refuse to see how far gone we are.

It’s hard to project anything in the future based on VA when the Dems go all in and the surrender party runs. The GOP establishment and big donors punted in VA. That’s why they are losing. You can’t win the battles if the generals don’t want to fight.

Yeah I’ve noticed that the primary season FR election experts have come oozing out of their holes to cast doubts on conservatives.

I’ll be glad when this day is done. Either way, I won’t have to look at endless ads with McAuliffe’s freaky mug in them.

Yup, usually a repeating cast of *characters*.

The point is that a billionaire Obama donnor is helping fund Liberatarians to take votes from Republicans.
I wish Virginians knew this sooner!

"I know nothing about this race - sorry, real life throwing me for a loop these days. But I saw today on Facebook a contact of mine wrote that he is a lifelong republican going to vote today in VA for a straight democratic ticket. He feels really weird about it but it has to be done."

The only thing I can figure is that your FB contact is a moderate Republican who despises the Tea Party/ conservatives. Cuccinelli is solid in that respect. Maybe your guy hates social conservatives, of which Ken is one.

It's just stunning to me.....that a lifelong Republican believes it's vital to elect one of the sleaziest, most crooked shysters who ever drew breath. Not just any Dem, but Terry McAuliffe.

I can't even begin to imagine the thought process which led to such a conclusion.

I’m also sick of hearing that this one election is the end all future of the GOP when a lot of us aren’t even voting on anything today.

This is ridiculous. All I try to do is find a logical explanation for the numbers being reported. Many times in the past I, too, have disregarded polling and other news outlets calling BS, only to realize they were accurate when the final results came in. So I made it a quest to find out where these votes came from, county by county. I did one for Ohio awhile back.

Here is the Virginia Talking Points Excel Spreadsheet

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ak29h7eIOT3AdEQxTmFmd2FMakZwRzZBVkNIWkt6MWc&usp=drive_web#gid=0

It has all the data in VA General & Gov Elections going back to 2004 and is arranged based on Population of the 134 Independent City and County reporting ares.

Columns AE-AI highlighted in Yellow are the prediction columns for today. To the right of that, in Columns AJ-AS, I record the total number of votes in each area for 2004/08/12 and 05/09 repectively, and the number of votes the Republican candidate received in 04/08/12 and 05/09 respectively.

I look at the % of the vote Kilgore/McDonnell got to Bush/McCain, look at Romney’s numbers and try to base a percentage on that. In addition I look at the county voter population trends and whether it has increased or decreased, compare to current pollings and try to determine a projected turnout. If I’m really unsure, I’ll look at the Demographics.

I started from the bottom and worked my way up, but only made it through the first 20 or so municipalities.

I’m not here to influence anyone. I’m here to report, and for those watching the Election returns, to give a target number base for those interested. If Cuccinelli beats these numbers, that’s good. If not, then that’s not good.

For VA FReepers Voters, find your county or independent city on the list and if you want, try to make an accurate guess of where the numbers will be.

Just voted in SW Virginia. Rural but still a city. My precinct I think is probably 55/45 R/D. Turn out seems fairly light (no line).

Since I am a sane person, voted a straight R ticket. My wife, daughter and son are doing the same — so there’s four more for the good guys.

We’re still hopeful (and praying).

I understood perfectly but $16,000 isn’t that large of an effort for a no name
in a statewide election, imo. Maybe it buys a lot in VA I don’t know.

Typical meh November weather. Cool. Cloudy. Nothing to affect turnout.

In my (lib) precinct it was steady. Based on my very small sample, looked like it was the older crowd turning out.

God bless you guys....yep, I’m praying for Cuccinelli, too. This is no time to give up.

I’m getting ready to run up to the church and cast my vote...it’s about a mile up the road.
