It’s called “Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. One is supposed to use it to Supplement ones food budget, not live on it. If someone wants to give me $30/week to help with my grocery bills, fine but I’ll be fine without it too.
I think the supplemental is to supplement low income families - not necessarily in the area of food- but to allow but to supplement their monthly budgets for all items.
