F ‘em. I’m tired of financing the short-circuiting of Darwin.

I eat well for less than $50/month. Being a culinary school graduate and having a garden help.

Have done. Still do. It requires a knowledge of cooking and the will to do so.

Oh, and my splurge? A box of Kraft Mac and Cheese, usually on Thursday. Bonus: lots of carbs and protein.

We need to do something now!

Judging by the hefty girth of your average SNAP recipent, they must be eating each other!!

“Piece of cake to do...’’<<Yup. A few bags of pasta, can of tuna or two. Peanut butter, loaf of bread, a can or two of Campbells Soup. You’re right, ain’t hard to do. It isn’t going to be ‘’surf ‘n’ turf’’ but you’re not going to starve.

The question is bogus. There are few 1-person-per-household SNAP beneficiaries.

The better question is, can you afford to feed 4-5 people a day @4.50/each = 24.00/day? You certainly can, if you rattle those pots and pans.

Breakfast is taken care of by WIC: eggs, milk, cheese, and the schools; lunch is taken care of by sandwiches and chips, and the schools, and dinner is taken care of roasts of beef, chicken, pork, etc with rice, beans, pasta, garlic bread provided by the food pantries, and the schools.

Show me a skinny food stamp recipient and I’ll try to give a damn.

“Really, once again what does the s in SNAP stand for? supplemental, people aren’t expected to and don’t live on SNAP alone so this is just another boohoo liberal idiot trying to guilt everyone.”

Yeah, they buy the “groceries” on the SNAP card, then the booze and the luxuries with their own (or maybe our) cash. Then they probably lug it home to their Section 8 Housing. I know that there are some who may be relying on SNAP, but I’d be a fool to think that there weren’t a lot of scammers.
And just like everything the government does, reducing a temporary increase, is a “cut.” What BS!!!

To be blunt, it is not hard if you just walk ONLY around the outside aisles of any grocery store (i.e., produce, dairy, meat), with some small diversions.

I work for food 40+ hours a week and take all the overtime my boss will give me.

Yes. AND eat quite well. I easily live on $4.50 per day for food. Sherriff Joe feeds a full grown man for $1.50 a day.

“Show me a skinny food stamp recipient and I'll try to give a damn''<< Damn right! Ever sit in a shopping mall plaza and try to count the number of how many fat twelve-year boys with breasts you'll see? I did once waiting for my wife while she shopped. I gave up after almost two dozen lard-ass kids went by, most chomping down on some kind of junk food or working on a Super Sized Slurpee.

I actually could eat on $4.50 per day and maybe should.

I’d lose weight real quick.

20 years ago I budgeted $85 a month for groceries and never went hungry.

Of course, I was making near $100,000 and eating out all the time but, I did it....

LOL

Food stamps value - what a person receives - is based on their income.

A person receiving the minimum 'stamps' would be making the maximum amount of income allowed. Food stamps augment a food budget - they don't replace every person's obligation to spend any of their own money on food.

Liberals who write the kind of stuff we see here are attempting to lie by leaving out basic facts... typical liberal crap.

Millions of tax payers are living on even less, because most of their paychecks are stolen to support everyone elses family instead.
These people think they got it bad? Try living as a tax slave! They have no idea what the word "struggle" means!

The average income in the U.S is 30K. The average welfare recipient (social parasite) collects a cool 40K - 60K in benefits every year! And they have the nerve to complain???

No one in Washington represents the tax slaves any more. We're already making our bricks without straw. How much more can they steal from us?

We need a Lincoln or Moses who'll stand up and set us free.

$4.50 per day my foot. It's likely more than that. Not to mention the other "supplemental" assistance they get for housing, utilities, phones, free school meals (breakfast, lunch and in some schools after school meal), etc, etc.

Yeah, I could live nicely on all of that.

Scratch that.

25 years ago I budgeted $85 on a near $100k earnings(commissions)

By 1993 I was making way more and didn’t pay attention.

Still, might be a good idea to make more concious choices about what I pick up at the store.

Might even make sense to stop going to Costco during Happy Hour.
