Analysis: Obama's aversion to Mideast conflicts fuels backlash from allies

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - From Saudi Arabia to Israel, traditional U.S. allies in the Middle East are beginning to ask: Is America turning its back on us?

President Barack Obama's diplomatic overtures to old foe Iran and his last-minute refusal to attack Syria have officials in Israel, the Gulf countries and Turkey wondering if Washington is deliberately neglecting them to avoid being dragged into a Middle East facing deeper sectarian strife and concerns that Tehran may be seeking a nuclear bomb.

Media reports that the U.S. National Security Agency may have spied on the leaders of Germany, Mexico and Brazil have upset those longtime allies too, adding to the impression in some quarters that Obama has his foreign priorities backward.

But it is in the Middle East where Obama's policy is under harsher scrutiny, especially from Saudi Arabia, which fears a warming of relations between the United States and Riyadh's regional rival Iran.

A senior Saudi prince warned this week that the kingdom could "shift away" from the United States, suggesting a major strategic change after decades of close military and economic cooperation.

Obama’s been a little busy lately shoving Obamacare down our throats and trying to turn the United States over to Hispanic illegals.

Also he needs to get our minds off Benghazi, and his supplying weapons to Muslim brotherhood Christian killers.

It is pretty sure he will go back to screwing up the Middle east as soon as he has forced RINO’s to pass an amnesty bill, and Benghazi has calmed down.

The measure of a National Leader can be determined by the respect that his enemies have for him.

Rooters sides with the Islamic terrorists. They could care less that he refuses to back Israel, but they’re really mad that he backed out of helping al Qaeda in Syria at the last minute.

And the Saudis are thinking, “What kind of a Muslim is this guy, anyway? When he bowed down to our King, the Custodian of the Holy Places, did he really mean it, or not?”

We don’t need mid-east oil anymore.

We do need to support Israel, if we wish to remain a going concern.

Those two suppositions make for a simpler course, going forward.

The right path is not necessarily the easiest, or shortest path, but it is the one on which you will never get lost.

Yeah I really couldn’t care less what our mideast “allies” want at this point. They’re always there to hold our coat while we fight their battles but that’s about it. The only ones showing any kind of reliability is Jordan and their power in the mideast is greatly diminished.

If it were up to me I would make a deal with Israel to park a carrier group or two off their coast. They could keep the group supplied at reasonable cost and we could protect them from serious attack.

Now that the region is thoroughly destabilized, that may well be our best option.

Having thrown away in a few years what took 100 years or more to put in place (counting the British and French efforts) we must strengthen the things that remain.

If we turn our back on Israel we are clearly lost.

I think we may even have to go further and let Israel retake the Sinai. I think Europe might be willing to get on board once they realize how much it will cost them to lose the canal.

Our allies are not just worried about Obama. They realize Clinton or Biden likely will win in 2016. So, the US could be run by an incompetent, weak socialist for 11 more years. They have had 4+ years of both to judge their abilities & both are seriously lacking. Furthermore, Pubs are in disarray, with statesmanship no better than the Rats.

So, what do you do when you realize the foundation of your security & economy is declining & will continue to decline for years?

If I had to make decisions based on this likelihood, I probably would start to divest myself of this dependence as quickly, but quietly, as possible.

Our enemies are well aware of this weakness, too. It's too easy to predict.

The next decade could be the most dangerous, chaotic decade since WWII.

Not even a totally corrupt media can protect The One from his failures forever. It’s the elephant in the room that’s too big to ignore. His legacy will be about how a a slavishly starstruck media lied, ignored, distracted and distorted the most spectacular failures and breathtaking corruption that ever emanated from the White House.
