Republicans Back Down, Ending Crisis Over Shutdown and Debt Limit

WASHINGTON — Congressional Republicans conceded defeat on Wednesday in their bitter budget fight with President Obama over the new health care law as the House and Senate approved last-minute legislation ending a disruptive 16-day government shutdown and extending federal borrowing power to avert a financial default with potentially worldwide economic repercussions.

With the Treasury Department warning that it could run out of money to pay national obligations within a day, the Senate voted overwhelmingly on Wednesday evening, 81 to 18, to approve a proposal hammered out by the chamber’s Republican and Democratic leaders after the House on Tuesday was unable to move forward with any resolution. The House followed suit a few hours later, voting 285 to 144 to approve the Senate plan, which would fund the government through Jan. 15 and raise the debt limit through Feb. 7.

It goes WAY beyond Health Care.. It also destroys the workforce.. It forces Companies/Corporations to cut Full time work to Part Time (it is exactly what happened here in Japan 10-15 yeas ago), because it is the only way not to collapse the company.

When the workforce and jobs collapse, then the economy will crash soon after.

This is FAR worse than many people realize.

I’ve been going around on another thread with someone who openly admits he supports Obamacare.

The house sends the senate a CR with no money for obamacare. The senate sends it back. The house sends the senate a CR making congress have to join the system. The senate sends it back. This goes back and forth several times. Then the senate sends one back to the house that gives a few billion dollars to McConnell’s districk and a $174,000 payment to a dead senator’s wife and the house approves it. But the house never mentioned to extra spending. They could have voted this down and been praised by everyone. Why didn’t they just cave on the original CR?

There are 40 or 50 people there who are for America. Ignore the rest or run someone against them.

Robin Leach is from England.

I was listening to Robin Leach today, he’s a great human being God bless him..he was telling Stuart Varney how he came here over 40 years ago for the American dream, to get away from Socialism, which is just another tame way of saying Communism, he said look at America right now, he said its very close to becoming the Communist country he ran away from..look around, we are almost there and it scares the hell out of me.

"Ironic isn't it? In some/many ways, Russia is freer than we are."

Rand Paul’s immigration speech
03.19.13 | Hon Sen Rand Paul (KY)

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let’s start that conversation by acknowledging we aren’t going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

[but he’s not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]

None of us will be laughing off the disaster they have created, including you.

How completely, totally, irrefutably, overwhelmingly, comprehensively, irreversibly, eternally and in a genocidal sense for the winning side, true.
