GOP Rep. Louie Gohmert Goes Off on John McCain: He’s ‘Supported al-Qaeda’
Mediaite ^ | October 11th, 2013 | Josh Feldman

The Republican party is currently in the middle of a civil war of sorts, between moderate Republicans leery of tactics like defunding Obamacare and tea party conservatives sticking to their guns, crystallized by Louie Gohmert saying at the Values Voters Summit that John McCain “supported al-Qaeda.”

Gohmert took a swipe at his Senate colleague, who has been highly critical of Republicans pushing for Obamacare defunding, even suggesting2 they should be held “accountable” for lying to the GOP. That didn’t sit too well with Gohmert.

Louie is 60. I wonder if he is going to run against cornpone for spinator from Texas?

It isn’t worth being a registered republican anymore. Their establishment is a bunch of losers and not even pretender conservatives. Jefferson must be turning in his grave.

Notice, it is only the new reps who are speaking out! The rest are bought and paid for!

Louie, who happens to be my congress critter, is a breath of fresh air in that he just tells it like he sees it. And he doesn’t much go in for a lot of semantics and word smithing like so many of them.

I’m hoping he runs for Senate and gets Cornyn out of there.

Pretty obvious the cancer has spread to what little brain matter mcstain had left. And he was the repub candidate? WTH? I knew he wasn’t the guy all along but still pulled the switch knowing that king hussein would really cause us problems.

Do not defund Obamacare.

The GOP needs to pass their own version.

Then REPLACE IT.

I predicted this before the 2012 election...that if Romney lost there would be a civil war in the GOP. What I was wrong about was how long it took. I expected it to begin in earnest immediately. Surprised its taken this long.

Like hell they do. We do not need a Republican version of nationalized health care. the federal gov't needs to get its claws OFF of health care and leave it to the private sector and individuals.

I think this is the answer. We need to come up with solutions instead of just kicking at Democrat policies. We need to give something to the public to latch onto.

I've been listening to Jason Lewis here in Minnesota, and he's right, there are things we can adapt from the Affordable Care Act. We can dump the stupid mandates that obviously impose upon personal liberties, but keep things that can make insurance more affordable, competitive.

Good for him, good for us, good for the US.

3rd party from our internal civil war? Maybe. It is scary though because knowing it’s necessary but the outcome is highly probable to deliver victory for Hillary is frightening. Rush is right on that, the math doesn’t work and nothing other than hope itself can convince me it would get enough votes. There are low info voters on the R side who would simply vote R also, and, open primaries to damage us, too.

Gohmert has the guts to unload on McCain. Now you watch, one of those GOP elitists will say Gohmert was not acting in the right spirit to publicly get personal.

I felt the same way, I could only get excited about the 2008 GOP ticket while Sarah Palin was on it. But with McCain’s behavior this year, I wonder if he really would have been better than Obama.

Louie would be great as Senator, but dang I’ve got mixed feelings about him not being my Rep any longer.

Gohmert is a fighter, whether he can get past Cornwallace is a big question. He’d be up against the same dirty fighting TexGOPe that tried to destroy Cruz and luckily Cruz had no skeletons in his closet. Don’t think Louie has any either, but he’s not been tested by that kind of fire yet.
