Tea Party backlash? Not among rank-and-file Republicans (Pew Poll)
PEW Research Org ^ | October 9, 2013 | By Bruce Drake

Recent news reports have suggested that the hard line taken by Tea Party and other conservative Republicans in the House in the budget and debt ceiling battles may be producing a backlash among party supporters and donors who are concerned about the political impact of the government shutdown and a possible U.S. default on its debt.

But to whatever extent that pushback may be happening, it’s a point of view not shared by rank-and-file Republicans. Just 18% of Republicans believed their leaders were paying too much attention to the Tea Party, up slightly from 13% two years ago, according to a Pew Research Center survey conducted last week. Most Republicans said the party’s leaders were either paying the right amount (40%) or too little (24%) attention to the positions of the Tea Party.

Even among Republicans and Republican leaners who do not agree with the Tea Party movement, more than half said either that the GOP was paying the right amount of attention (34%) to the ideas of the Tea Party or too little (21%). Just 22% of non-Tea Party Republicans said the movement receives too much attention from the Republican Party.

I’m pretty sure the lame stream media was dancing on the TEA party’s grave just months ago and holding celebrations of it’s death.

This poll is meaningless.

Which Tea Party are they polling about? The real Tea Party, consisting of ordinary citizens concerned over the government’s overbearing reach and bloated power? Or the Tea Party of wild-eyed crazies invented by the media, who are wholly fictional?

How would this poll pan out if the questions were about specific Tea Party positions, rather than just the name “Tea Party”?

This verifies that the reason for GOP drop in approval among GOP is not the TEA Party it is the moderates and the muddling of the leadership.

Once we allowed the media and the RATS to go from “tea parties” to “The TEA Party”, we gave them a target. When we were just the amorphous “tea parties”, we were ENERGY!!

(TPF...remember?)

I found it...Feb, 2009

From FReeper ThePatriotsFlag

Something special is happening with the Tea Party Movement of today. Of course people will try to gain control of it because it is a very powerful source of energy. But the concern that it is “not controlled” and therefore “doomed” is unfounded. It needs not be nor should it be confined ... to a leader, to an organization or to a specific plan. Such activity would nullify the greatness of what it has become to date and could grow to in the future. One needn’t worry ... one only need to join the energy, shun people who attempt its control and allow plans to be spur of the moment. With a leader, there is a target, with an organization, a counter-organization, with a plan, a thwarting of the plan. But as pure ENERGY ... nothing can stop it. Think of it as energy ... join it, and be a part of this historical change-making effort.

"This poll is meaningless."

I don't think so at all...

'Which Tea Party are they polling about? The real Tea Party, consisting of ordinary citizens concerned over the government’s overbearing reach and bloated power? Or the Tea Party of wild-eyed crazies invented by the media, who are wholly fictional?

How would this poll pan out if the questions were about specific Tea Party positions, rather than just the name “Tea Party”?'

The last paragraph is extremely encouraging:

When it comes to the general public, a minority (35%) of those surveyed said Republican leaders were paying too much attention to the Tea party.
I think the media-created "Tea Party extremist" mantra has been pretty well rejected by the American public. 35% is pretty close to the percentage of hard-core liberals who hate anything right of center.

It's time for the Tea Party to go on the offensive again, in particular on the IRS front. There's no entity in the US hated more than the IRS.

Most people have a misconception of the Tea Party. It’s not a party at all. It’s just regular All American, hard working people who love their country and are trying to save it. They should be thanking us.

for the beltway politicians, the polling on independents is more important

and what this poll shows is that independents do not have the hatred/fear of the TP that the lackey MSM claims !

How about a PEW poll on whether the Democrat Party is paying too much attention to their ultraleft Marxist progressive wing?

The commie democrats, led by the commie gang in the white house, wants one party. They’re trying to use the Tea Party to destroy the gop. They’re trying to use the gop to destroy the Tea Party. And of course there are the commies already in the gop. The conservatives in the GOP had best pay attention.
