On more than one occasion, President Obama has quietly met with select members of the media. The off-the-record meetings were notable in that conservative journalists were seldom included.
On Tuesday, the tables were turned somewhat as Obama invited a small number of conservative reporters, columnists and commentators to the White House for a private chat, but is the president looking for an edge in the ongoing budget impasse with Congress?
Ben Shapiro, editor-at-large of Breitbart News, called the meeting “a clear attempt to woo largely establishment conservative commentators who have loudly opposed the GOP’s current government shutdown strategy.”
Those in attendance Tuesday include Charles Krauthammer, a Fox News contributor and Washington Post columnist; Paul Gigot, Wall Street Journal editorial page editor; Robert Costa, the National Review’s Washington editor; syndicated columnist Kathleen Parker; and Washington Examiner columnist Byron York, a source with knowledge of the meeting told Politico.
Yeah, that was funny. I was surprised not to see Rod Dreher and David Brooks on the list, too.
I don’t know Costa and Gigot has his redeeming moments.
Other than that, the group is GOP-e on steroids.
And not conservative at all.

Now that explains Krauthammer’s interview last night on O’Reily.
The bargain to be struck is a few weeks deal and then it all goes through. That is the meme they were told to push as it is the only way for both the GOP and the President to ‘save face.’

Locally it is the Hearst’s TIMES UNION (Albany NY) .... the Official Obama Organ Outlet, Opinion and Cover-up Delivery Service.
For example there is no mention in today’s paper that the amnesty people were at the Mall while the WWII Vets were prevented to be there.
They should havae sent Rush, Steve Malzberg & Mike Gallagher in their place.

Is Rod actually writing about politics? I only occasionally see his writing these days - for the record, I like him.

None I would call conservative.

We are in uncharted territory here. Obama is having to deal with actual opposition for the first time in his privileged, protected and promoted life. He has no experience or real frame of reference to deal with it.
On the job training is not working well for him. The House MUST hold the line.
Charles Krauthammer? Figures. No wonder he has been pushing the Democratic talking points “Republicans are losers and Dims and Obozo are winners”. He wants to get invited to the cocktail parties.
