House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) vowed to bring forward more piecemeal spending bills Thursday, as he expressed confidence President Obama would eventually be forced to negotiate.
In a memo sent to House Republicans, Cantor called the Democratic position "untenable" and "unsustainable," adding that a steady diet of narrow funding bills would force Democrats to deal.
"I am confident that if we keep advancing common-sense solutions to the problems created by the shutdown that Senate Democrats and President Obama will eventually agree to meaningful discussions that would allow us to ultimately resolve this impasse," he wrote.
"The American people ... expect us to work together and they will not countenance one party simply refusing to negotiate."
Cantor said Republicans are in an "unprecedented place," and noted that during the last shutdown, President Clinton was "actively engaged" in searching for a solution.

This is good. Just send those bills over and let them set. The Senate is CHOOSING to not fund government. Their choice.
They keep whining about letting the house vote on a clean CR, the house should start calling on Reid to let the Senate vote on their original CR. Let the Dems vote to continue to force people into a program they don’t want.
This is how it should be instead of passing massive spending bills.
Why, oh why, do the Democrats want children to die of cancer and old people to starve?
Keep up the pressure! One bill every few days or so to keep the news cycle fresh. I’m interested to see how the “news” media will spin all this.
Because they are mean and selfish.
This necessary shutdown is only detracting from how bad Obamacare is. Wait until more people can get on that site!
And they hate old people and kids with cancer.
And they hate puppy dogs, too. And kittens.
A clean CR? What is that? As Sowell said “What is unclean about not giving Reid everything that he wants?” It’s PR jargon meant to make the Republicans look like they are “dirty”.
All we have to do is to repeat this endlessly.
Eventually, the Democraps in the Senate will cave, but Zero NEVER will.
This will require a veto override.
The roadblock is the public face of the Democrat party, Harry Reid.
The optics couldn’t be better.
Some FOX reporterette that I’ve never seen before with Brett is all breathy that a gov shut down has NEVER happened before...
My best suggestion now is for Republican representatives to bypass the networks and go to LOCAL MEDIA, especially tv, and EXPLAIN what they are doing. A simple outreach to the LIVs and the biased liberals in “journalism”....
