I don’t so much notice that.

What I do NB is that the vast, vast majority of people touting Liz Cheney as the “solution” to Enzi aren’t from Wyoming. They’re watching or listening to the dim-bulb drone of a radio host, Sean Hannity, or they’re watching some talking-head show on the national media.

Cheney really does well in these formats.

Most of the people in Wyoming don’t pay much attention to either.

Cheney is also prolific in her ad buys on all manner of web sites where her ads pop up for anyone with an IP address originating in Wyoming. I seriously doubt the efficacy of these ads in a state where retail politics still goes a long, long way for all candidates. People on the coasts utterly fail to understand how important retail politics is in the rural west. There is NO way you can win “astro-turf” campaigns in the rural mountainous west. None.

I like Liz Cheney, but the family is pro-gay. In Wyoming, she’ll never make it.

>> Do you notice in all of Lakeshart’s rantings, he seems to have a problem naming Mike Enzi’s opponent ? <<

It seems to be true of all Liz Cheney supporters lately. Impy and I confronted one on another thread who would only say "someone" should replace Enzi, and refused to acknowledge he was backing Liz Cheney or even acknowledge she was his primary election opponent. They must have gotten their marching orders from somewhere that since it's impossible to defend Liz's liberal record, do NOT discuss her under ANY circumstances and focus 100% of the conversation on demonizing Enzi.

Liz Cheney has officially become She Who Must Not Be Named.

Well, I have to admit, I’m not following Cheney’s campaign in the out-of-state media. She’s a regular little missy motor-mouth, and that’s a sure fire clue that she has no heft.

We have enough coverage to entertain us here in Wyoming, and within the state, she’s racking up an impressive list of gaffes.

Here’s what I think is going on:

Enzi is a reliable conservative. There are few states in the US right now where the GOP candidate is basically a “slam dunk” to get into office.

The neo-cons (Bill Kristol, Karl Rove, et al) are looking at the electoral landscape and they can see their reliable, internationalist, war-mongering cabal isn’t doing well lately. They see people from the “Tea Party” (and others) really taking a liking to people who want to focus on America first, foreign adventures a distant fourth (after our economy, our budget, our civil liberties). This greatly distresses the red diaper Jews who form the backbone of the interventionist wing of the GOP, the people who want to keep us shackled to the loon-fest that is the middle east.

Of course, these people never serve in the US military, their children don’t serve, etc. They’re too “good” for that job.

Anyway, as they’re looking around the landscape, they see their chances of keeping a reliable internationalist bloc in the US Senate slipping away from them. A quick look at the recent GOP senate winners shows that the neo-con cabal are losing their grip. The people are revolting... They stink on ice!

So they have decided to try picking up this seat in Wyoming. They figured “hey, we have a person who can claim to have been born in Wyoming, to a Wyoming political family (the Cheneys), and we might have an easy time demonizing the current candidate, Enzi, as a do-nothing. We might be able to pick up this seat. Let’s try it on the cheap.”

And that’s what is going on here. Trouble is, it isn’t working. Telling people in Wyoming that we need our senator(s) to be MORE involved in “foreign policy” is like saying “You haven’t really lived until you’ve contracted both a dose of the clap AND a case of crabs!”

Most people say “Yea, well, I’m going to give that a miss. You can tell me I haven’t really lived and I’ll be happy to agree with you.”

Here’s my prediction:

After Lizzie loses the contest for the senate, she quietly sells her new “residence” in Wilson and slithers back to DC to work again in the US State Department or some idiotic Beltway think-tank.

They all seem to be working off the same script, that’s for sure.

I don’t listen to talk radio much or read a bunch of blogs but someone major must be propagandizing on Liz’s behalf. The Cheneys have a lot of friends. Before she entered the race there was nary a peep about Enzi (and I haven’t heard anything from WY freepers about hating his guts) and suddenly he’s a dastardly RINO and everyone who takes the word of whoever it is as gospel keeps repeating that!

Lemmings, honestly they make me sick. They should try thinking for themselves once in a while.

He’s “weak”! He’s “not a fighter”. (Does everyone need to be in the limelight?) He’s “friends with Harry Reid”. The Internet tax is the only actual issue they mention. They compare him to Lindsay Graham.

I’d take a usually solid conservative-voting Senator who’s wrong on one issue and is actually FROM the state he represents over a pro-gay neocon princess (excuse me “leader”) who’s spent her whole life in the DC area any damn day of the week. There are too many Liz Cheney types in the Senate already, she’s the one to compare to someone like Graham.

Shutdown just hit

Today Levin was complaining about the house play, passing those two offer bills that Reid rejects anyway so they can say they tried to compromise.

This is the perfect example between a radio talk show host and the real world.

A number of GOP have doing interviews (networks, CNN, etc) the past two days including Lee and Cruz. They look real happy being able to throw back at media examples of the GOP trying to compromise to impeach Obama pointing out how he isnt. Sure when asked on the spot they say that they personally wouldn't do that themselves ,'but that is not the point' ., But they love having that as a weapon to throw back at them.

Levin doesn't have to worry about that.

Exactly.

I don’t understand how people don’t see this.

As I’ve said on other threads, the Cheneys’ attachment to Wyoming is rather tenuous at best; only Lynne is really FROM Wyoming. Dick is actually from Nebraska. After they got ramped up in DC politics, their appearances in Wyoming were rather infrequent.

Liz was born out of state, then came back in when Dick ran for Congress, then left for DC when she was 12. That’s it.

Since she had no connections to the state, she could have purchased a residence anywhere in the state. If I were carpetbagging into this state, I’d try to be as centrally located near the largest amount of actual in-state money I could, and that means Casper, not Jackson (and its “suburb,” Wilson).

Buuuut, she didn’t do that. She decided to plop her little silk-pantied posterior down in the Jackson area, with all the other monied elitists from both coasts who don’t really like (or associate) with any of the people outside their precious little playground in the Jackson Hole area.

Mike Enzi was born and raised in Wyoming, went to the schools in Sheridan, then went on to become an accountant and retail marketer. He opened a shoe store in Gillette (oh no! Bar the door! Someone who has actually worked in the private sector! What will the Congress ever do!?) Enzi then went on to become mayor of GIllette, then served in the state assembly, then the state senate, then ran for Congress. He has a solid record here in Wyoming, and he’s not a rich braggart, which actually works for him. The Wyoming way of people is “shut up and show me results,” and Enzi has done that.

Liz Cheney is another goddamn lawyer, and so is her husband. If for no other reason, I’d vote against her for that right there, and if there were a way to do it, I’d vote them back out of the state. I’m sick to death of lawyers running this country.
