Barilla President Apologizes for Comments About Gays
ABC ^ | 9/26/13 | By SUSANNA KIM

The president of Barilla is apologizing for saying that he would never use a gay family in the pasta maker's ads.

Guido Barilla said in an Italian radio interview that his pasta is for the traditional family and said gay people could eat another pasta if they did not like his message.

"We accept his invitation to not eat his pasta," said Aurelio Mancuso, president of gay-rights group Equality Italia, in a statement in Italian.

Boycotting Twitter users shared the hashtag #boicottabarilla, or "boycott Barilla."

But Barilla quickly walked back his comments.

Bingo. This is something I have always maintained. Tolerance does not mean acceptance—it means noninterference.

A perfectly workable and acceptable arrangement---- but only if it works both ways.

This brought to you by ABC News.

This is the same "news organization" that has as one its top stories tonight on their nightly new, "How to save money when you go shopping".

That’s actually pretty clever, to highlight the blessing that women are. That is a big gotcha to the “liberals” (who stole that word from classical liberals anyhow?) who claim they are boosting for women, when really they are calling for the cheapening of women.

I don’t understand why people say things and then apologize
whats the point? All it does is give ammunition to the party or parties you disagree with. I think you should just keep your opinions to yourself unless you plan to stand by them when confronted.

Once, just once, I’d love to hear someone speak the truth and not apologize for it later.

As far as I can see in my places, Gays are hardly a major market for Barilla or any other brand of pasta.. Gays don’t usually eat a lot of pasta.. It’s the CARB thingy.. :)

There was no later apology. It all came from the same interview. It’s all in how a particular media decided to spin it. Take out a bit of this. Add an emphasis to that. Spin, spin, spin.

Well, one thing is that we need to come to a godly perception of the homosexuality problem. That’s often treated as some kind of sui generis issue, getting people to make all manner of overreactions that have to then get walked back for the sake of, yes, truth — but the gospel forbids that kind of treatment. The same salvation that can give power to stand against the kind of bodily abuse represented by smoking, can give power to stand against the kind of bodily abuse represented by buggery. When did we ever get the arrogance to say that any sin, except for refusing salvation altogether, is bigger than God’s salvation? That sure spits in God’s face.

“I just don’t understand why people are so intimidated by a bunch of sexual deviants. Why apologize or even qualify the original statement? “

It’s called money and gays in general have a lot of it.

I don’t think he walked back his beliefs or postition on the matter, he just apologized for possibly being too crass and offending sensibilities.

And even if they were twice as wealthy as “average America” they still would represent less than 5%... and also it is hard to escape Barilla, it is used in restaurants worldwide, and an attempted boycott would flop ridiculously.

Less Than Authentic Pink Vodka Sauce

Ingredients

1 pound dry BARILLA ziti pasta
1 onion, chopped
1 pound lean ground beef
2 (26 ounce) jars spaghetti sauce
6 ounces provolone cheese, sliced
1 1/2 cups sour cream

Oh man. I just read that he stood for traditional families! That had to be the fastest about-face yet! The lavender mafia got to him quickly - must have some pictures on file.

There was no later apology?

The article quotes him as saying:

"With reference to remarks made yesterday to an Italian radio program, I apologize if my words have generated controversy or misunderstanding, or if they hurt someone's sensitivity," Guido Barilla said in a statement.

Then he adds:

"I would like to reiterate -- that I respect gay marriages."

This man "respects" two men who stick their privates in each others arses and call it marriage?

When did we ever get the arrogance to say that opposing homosexual behavior makes us less worthy of being called Christians?

When did we ever get the arrogance to claim a Christian opposed to the homosexual agenda is somehow claiming that that behavior can not be forgiven thru God’s salvation?

That sure spits in many good Christian’s faces.

I must try this (using Barilla, of course.)

The provolone is a nice touch!

Some gays probably threatened to bomb their businesses and kill their families. I’m serious. It probably happened.

NEVER apologize for being right. Homosexuality is a perversion, an affront to God and Nature.....

and their narcissism proves it. They are pure slime. I repent of any nice thing I have ever said about a gay person. They can all go screw each other.
