An Army veteran accused of fighting alongside an al-Qaida-affiliated group of Syrian rebels has been released from jail following a secret plea deal.

Eric Harroun, 31, of Phoenix, had been charged with providing material support to a terrorist group and faced up to life in prison.

But under a plea agreement entered Thursday in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Harroun pleaded guilty to an obscure law regulating export of munitions. He was sentenced to time served. He had been jailed since returning to the U.S. in March.

Prosecutors first accused Harroun of fighting alongside the terrorist group Jabhat al-Nusra, one of many Syrian rebel groups seeking to topple President Bashar Assad. But defense lawyers argued there was confusion about which rebel group Harroun had joined.

I would imagine the feds wanted to avoid a trial where the point would be brought up that the President was sending supplies to the same people, so if he was on trial, then Obama should be too.

Excellent point.

I’d be willing to consider giving 0vomit and Holder the same plea deal.

So much for the Equal Protection Clause. Some animals are more equal than others.

Well, actually.... Obama just uses an executive order to waive any law he wants to break. Not sure how that can be Constitutional, but then I’m just a peon who’s less equal than anybody in Washington DC.

I wonder if the real deal is that what this guy did isn’t illegal any more because Obama waived the law and it would have to be equally waived for everybody. If so, it seems like Obama owes a bunch of drone-hit people their lives back...

And it seems like the treason clause of the US Constitution has to be amended, since providing aid and comfort to our enemies is fine and dandy under the illegal usurper in our White House.

Who has standing to sue Obama in court over his unconstitutional actions? To sue him personally because he is personally the person who is doing this stuff, not just his underlings.

I just watched my cursor “wander” all the way from the right-hand side bar to the left edge of the screen and then up 15 lines of text (at the point I stopped it).

My hands were in my lap the whole time. My mouse didn’t move.

Pretty big “if only’s”, huh? Seems like there ought to be a way other than revolution to do something about all that, beyond just tsk-tsk-ing.

I believe there is—but every election for the past several I have heard the same braying from both political Parties The Republicans insist America must vote for them or surrender the Country— —and yet they do not put forward nor support candidates who seem to say what needs to be done. Republicans are better at being followers it seems....The Democrats—on the other hand seem controlled by the communist Party —and gain their power by division and propaganda.Neither Party seems to read—nor follow the US Constitution.Nor care about Religion and Morality. Most Americans seem to prefer being told what to do —what to say-what to believe. For the majority keeps putting the same corrupt individuals in Office every election cycle.
