Israel wants to see Syrian President Bashar al-Assad toppled, its ambassador to the United States said on Tuesday, in a shift from its non-committal public stance on its neighbor's civil war.
Even Assad's defeat by al Qaeda-aligned rebels would be preferable to Damascus's current alliance with Israel's arch-foe Iran, Ambassador Michael Oren said in an interview with the Jerusalem Post.
His comments marked a move in Israel's public position on Syria's two-and-1/2-year-old war.

A publication funded by the Saudi royal family isn't going to have an editorial policy favoring Alawite apostates, let alone one, like Assad, that rules over Sunni Arabs. This paper was, as one might expect, opposed to the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel in the 1970's:

Public opinion is against military action in this country even after Israel’s lobbyists here AIPAC came out in support of it.
The fog is now cleared and we now know that Israel is clearly against Assad because he is a tool of Iran.
Bet that’s the trade off for Israel to bomb Irans nuclear facilities...which has much further and far reaching issues for Israel than Syria’s chemical weapons.

Assad’s done regardless of how they orchestrate it.....it was so from the beginning.
Not uncommon for the Jihadists and terrorists to go from one nation to the other...wherever there is a war the top players are engaged in they send them..and they keep them fighting until International attention is achieved...then like in Libya, Egypt etc. the International Leaders start striking their deals in full view of the media Audiance.
Of course those deals are never the reality that is happening behind the scenes. But it keeps the low-end participants engaged until they are done with them...and we’ve trained them and armed them.... and the players recall them to some other area to fight.
As for the refugees...there is little left for them to go back to at this point....but most will return..they’ve been down this road before...but host countries cannot continue to met their needs...so the LEaders will make certain now that negotiations work in order to relieve the host countries.

Apparently, this is an example, if one is ever needed, where Israeli interests diverge from American interests, for those who are sometimes confused. It’s not in America’s interest to be on the same side as al Qaeda.
I bet Bibi knows more about what’s going on that the left or right media in America.
Whatever Bibi is up to strategically, I trust his judgment.
I think Netanyahu is being dangerously short-sighted, but he deserves credit for acting in what he thinks is best interest of his country.

And if Russia doesn’t give a crap about Christians, they’ve a funny way of showing it, putting chapels throughout their military and rebuilding 200 churches and monasteries at government expense. We could use a little of that not crap giving right here in the land of the free.

I think Washington (or someone) told the Israelis to take this stance. Israel was put up to say this.
