I’m a resident.

My gun is legally carried in my glovebox,
or console, or floorboard, in a zippered,
snapped, or latched, secondary containment.

IE, holster with strap, box with latch, sock with
zipper.

If your “papers” are in the same place
tell the Leo.

An informed deputy will tell you to place
it on the dash, in plain sight, and ask for
your papers.

Or you’ll get tossed in jail. If it’s Friday
night expect a leisurely weekend and
and a long Monday.

Thank God I live in Texas.

The only requirement here is to have the pistol (law does not apply to long guns) in a concealed manner within your automobile.

It is a good idea to tell the officer that you have a concealed pistol within your automobile upon being stopped (or asked about it) to have a smooth relationship.

No special papers, no special types of cases or bags to put your pistol in, no requirements or regulations pertaining to special rules how far you are driving and how many miles from home you are traveling (or how many counties you are passing through), no fear of being arrested and best of all, the absolute freedom to have it with you without any other restrictions if you are not a felon or criminal on the lam.
