People who are interested in this case should listen to a regional talk radio host named Burnie Thompson, who has taken up this case over the past couple months.

Thompson has discussed evidence in this case on his show, and also on his Facebook page.

State attorney Willie Meggs is involved. If you're from Central Florida you probably know Meggs’ history.

I’m a resident.

My gun is legally carried in my glovebox,
or console, or floorboard, in a zippered,
snapped, or latched, secondary containment.

IE, holster with strap, box with latch, sock with
zipper.

If your “papers” are in the same place
tell the Leo.

An informed deputy will tell you to place
it on the dash, in plain sight, and ask for
your papers.

Is Rick Scott a closet commie?

After the Angela Corey appointment and this I have to ask what gives?

Or you’ll get tossed in jail. If it’s Friday
night expect a leisurely weekend and
and a long Monday.

And the local da will try to muscle you
into a plea, then drop charges.

Sounds to me like the da has a “panties
in a knot” issue.

The sheriff followed the law!

I've wondered the same thing, as well as why he let the Marxists occupy state offices weeks on end. Something in the water, maybe?

I'm mystified by Scott's lack of action in the Corey (Zimmerman) case, and with the actions of Willie Meggs.

From what I've read about this case it seems to me that Meggs should have been removed from it from the beginning. My understanding is that the “new” sheriff who replaced Nick Finch has been a supporter and donor for Meggs’ previous campaigns. And apparently evidence in this case has somehow been “erased” from the recording devices used in the jail. Burnie Thompson recently played a secretly recorded audio tape of a discussion among deputies in this county conspiring to destroy Finch. This tape was apparently made by an agent of Meggs who worked on the Sheriff's staff.

Lots going on here. But the bottom line is that it appears Meggs is on a crusade against the Second Amendment, and that he's making an example of Nick Finch in order to intimidate all the other sheriffs who might think about using similar discretion with regard to future incidents involving firearms.

I've lost a lot of respect for the Governor as this case has developed and more of the evidence has been made public.

By the way, I’m also told (Burnie Thompson) that Sheriff Finch had been previously advised by at least three circuit court judges that he had exactly the kind of authority and discretion he exercised in this case.

With this, and persecuting George Zimmerman....Rick Scott is a Gun Control Nazi. He needs to be primaried in 2014...too many conservatives will not waste conservative votes on him in a general election

So is Scott, incompetent, evil or just unprincipled?

Thank God I live in Texas.

The only requirement here is to have the pistol (law does not apply to long guns) in a concealed manner within your automobile.

It is a good idea to tell the officer that you have a concealed pistol within your automobile upon being stopped (or asked about it) to have a smooth relationship.

No special papers, no special types of cases or bags to put your pistol in, no requirements or regulations pertaining to special rules how far you are driving and how many miles from home you are traveling (or how many counties you are passing through), no fear of being arrested and best of all, the absolute freedom to have it with you without any other restrictions if you are not a felon or criminal on the lam.

I wish I knew. I voted for the guy, but I doubt I could ever bring myself to support him again. His most attractive attribute is that he might not be as much of a maggot as his Democrat challenger. That’s about it.

This issue with Sheriff Finch has really changed my opinion of Gov. Scott, and really jaded me toward the legal system in Florida. I’ve seen the corruption demonstrated in the Zimmerman trial, and now more of it in this incident with Sheriff Finch.

I think Angela Corey should have been thrown in jail months ago. And Willie Meggs is every bit as bad as Corey is, if not more so.
