A Grand Rapids, Michigan report on a company that had to lay off over 1,000 people due to the Obamacare medical device tax:
"There are also new taxes affecting West Michigan industry, in particular, that took effect this year," says a local reporter. "There's a new 2.3 percent excise tax on medical device manufacturers. According to some reports, Kalamazoo based Stryker has laid off more than a thousand people because of it--and owes the federal government upwards of $100 million dollars this year alone. Late last week a Stryker spokesperson told me that Obamacare will cost the company fully 20 percent of its total research and development investments.

why in the hell would you pay an ‘exise tax’ on a MEDICAL DEVICE??
Medical devices, along with food, should be TAX FREE

You good folks know exactly what do...SIGN!!!
Stryker was the squadron leader. He brought us in real low. But he couldn’t handle it.
Useful idiot Jon Stryker...
“Medical tech scion Jon Stryker, whose net worth is currently estimated at $1.2 billion, contributed $2 million to the Priorities USA Action super PAC and has given $66,000 in contributions to Obama and the Democratic Party. Stryker does not run the company.”
The fact that they are taxing one area, medical tech, where the US still has few competitors worldwide shows you their real intentions.
Would you believe .... heart stents are considered a ‘medical device’? How many people in America are walking around with life-saving stents? (My dad has 10)
Obamacare is what should be “bombed” (into oblivion), not Syria.
All of the companies I know are just passing the cost of the excise tax on to the customer. Eventually the cost trickles down to patients.
Ding. Winner.
And the funny thing is, that the gov't thinks that the corporations are the ones paying the tax.
Here’s a crazy thought, how about using a 3D printer to make the devices, and paying an independent surgeon for the operation.
I know there is probably many reasons this won’t work but just a thought, we are going to have to become responsible for our own health, and start thinking outside the box, even though it will probably be breaking Obombercare laws.
>>Medical devices, along with food, should be TAX FREE<<
How would you suggest that we pay for the food inspectors?
Interesting that in Minnesota, Senators Amy Klobucher and Al Franken (a.k.a. dumb and dumber)are trying to repeal this tax as the Minneapolis based pacemaker company, Medtronics, is threatening to move its operations overseas if it is enacted.
Stryker makes the cots and Stair Chairs in a lot of Ambulances.
I think we are going to have to deal with Obamacare because the sniveling cowards in Congress won't. That being said, I think your statement above might be one of the few positive unintended consequences ... instead of defaulting to the 'system' to take care of us, we need to take care of ourselves. I had an experience a couple of years ago (nursing home/doctors, etc.) and found that there is a tremendous difference in care and outcome if you are actively involved, question decisions, do your homework and are able to be conversant on the subject (when a doc throws a medical term at you, you know what it means). I'm talking 180 degree differences. Your health is YOUR responsibility and all choices should be yours. Obamacare is trying to take the choice away and herd people on to their "medical cattle cars' ... where the result will be the same as it was in Europe - dead, innocent people. Americans, if anything, are creative and innovative and some are still feisty enough to fight back with alternatives, even if illegal under Obamacare ... perhaps this will be the eventual undoing of this monster ... an underground, parallel way to get decent, affordable healthcare.
Looks like my husband’s job will be phased out because of Obamacare. It’s not offical but the handwriting is on the wall. He’s been looking for work for over the past year with most markets that were once open are now closed. I have no idea what we are going to do if he can’t find work.
Well, he did get a monkey named after him.
