White House: Kerry did not gaffe
By REID J. EPSTEIN | 9/9/13 2:06 PM EDT
White House press secretary Jay Carney said Secretary of State John Kerrys assertion that U.S.-led airstrikes on Syria would be unbelievably small was only in context to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I think that Secretary Kerry clearly was referring to that in the context of what the United States and the American people have experienced over the past 10, 12 years, which includes large scale, long-term open-ended military engagement with boots on the ground in Afghanistan and Iraq, Carney said during Mondays White House press briefing. That is the contrast that Secretary Kerry was making.
Carney said Kerry did not gaffe.
I dont think that the phrasing reflects some error, its a fact by comparison, Carney said. This is certainly much more limited and a smaller duration and size.
Kerrys size comment on Monday came in the context of his description of how the U.S. would launch an attack against the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
What we have to do is make clear to people that this is were not talking about war, Kerry said. Were not going to war. We will not have people at risk in that way. We will be able to hold Bashar Assad accountable without engaging in troops on the ground or any other prolonged kind of effort in a very limited, very targeted, very short-term effort that degrades his capacity to deliver chemical weapons without assuming responsibility for Syrias civil war. That is exactly what were talking about doing unbelievably small, limited kind of effort.

But in proportion to the size of Waco vs. Syria, actually making the operation a wee tad larger. Indeed, vastly larger, since the Mahdi’s objective is complete regime change, much like the Clintoon/Shake&Bake objective vs. Koresh and the Davidians.
“Kerry didn’t gaffe. This is the most smartest administration in history. No one in the Obama administration gaffes. [Be quiet, Mr. Vice President].”
The entirety of this administration is a colossal embarassment.
And the thing between his legs.
Exactly why would the unbelievably small man in our White House need congressional approval to do something unbelievably small? This entire debate seems absurd: “watch out or I’ll ask Congress if I can do something unbelievably small” would not intimidate anyone more manly than a second-rate community organizer. It is far too late to worry about protecting Obama’s credibility.
I think Obama, Kerry, and Carney are incredible as well.
Even the former Russian KGB head and current president Putin has been more credible than the US president and his administration.
Yesterday I saw an article on here about the Pentagon expanding the Syria target list and duration of attacks.
Unbelievably small attacks mind you — sarc //
It’s unbelievable that they have any confidence that US involvement in Syria will remain small.
The best case scenario is that initial strike will be small only in the sense that the tip of an iceberg is small. The worst case scenario is that it will be small in the sense that the assassination of an archduke is small in comparison to World War I.
It’s impossible to parody statements from the current White House.
I just heard one bozo, the chief of staff, say that nobody — nobody — refutes the proof that the Obama Administration has given that Assad gassed his own people. However, the Russians and the Syrians have made their refutations quite plainly and publicly.
Then they trot out Susan Rice of Benghazi fame to promote the Obama narrative.
These people tells us one demonstrable lie after another and concoct narratives that make no sense and expect us to believe such absurdities. It simply cannot be parodied.
Has any bicycle, anywhere, ever been peddled backward, as quickly as this administration has backpeddled it’s various policy statments, since it’s inception?
Since when would lobbing upwards to a billion dollars worth of weapons at an adversary not be considered a war?
Tell that to the mama of the first US soldier who gets killed in this unbelievably small and symbolic strike.
The strike on Syria will not be a war in the same sense that the ramming the tanks into Koresh compound was not an assault.
For those who do not remember, the FBI used the PA system to announce “This is not an assault” all the while they were ramming tanks into the Koresh structure and pumping it full of CS gas.
The US government killed 76 of its own people, including 22 children during this so-called non-assault.
Three year olds running the country.
Water balloons.............
FWIW, nothing we’ve seen from this Administration regarding Syria is worth more than an unintelligent gleam from some junior college drop out’s idea of being a worldly do-gooder,...yet both Russia and China are dispatching a significant naval presence to the area.
IMHO, considering the amount of amicable posturing by Obama with Putin prior to the election, and Benghazi somehow fits critically into the affair,...it seems as though the entire affair is a charade to sucker the US into a sucker punch, with Obama in on the deal and wanting to see us whacked.
LOL!
