Whenever I’m at a stop light or in traffic, I keep enough distance between myself and the car in front so that I can pull out and get away if I have to. No bumper-to-bumper.

Yup, make sure you see the rubber meet the road on the car in front of you.
Yes! We had anti-terrorism training and that was one of the recommendations because that was how some of our military folks were kidnapped overseas.
