As soon as they let women into positions of power in the military, it goes the same way it has gone in the mainline churches: first come the women who aspired to take on traditionally male roles; then because of their gender issues that made them aspire to male roles they in turn start bringing on the gays and lesbians. Then they run a campaign of covetousness and payback. The lesbian pastor of a UMC church I went to used to mail people a list of sins with "theirs" highlighted in yellow, while of course picking fights and gossiping so she could bar people who disagreed with encouraging homosexual behaviors from trustee or board positions.
It could have gone differently from long ago if Christian men had upheld the equality of women taught by Christ in the first place, such as not engaging in domestic violence, being willing to pay women a fair wage when the industrial revolution became entrenched and people moved off the farms. Or if men in business settings had not taken sexual harassment to the extremes that they did -- my early career days were like MadMen, being hit on or coerced constantly by bosses, co-workers, suppliers and clients -- it was so bad I had to leave corporate life and go into business for myself, with all those headaches. Unfortunately when an organized pro-woman movement picked up steam in the 70s, it was not church-based like the Civil Rights movement of the 50s-60s had been; "Women's Lib" was dominated by non-Christians, lesbians and commies who were anti-male and anti-marriage. They fought back to the other extreme, and now look.
These things don't happen in a vacuum. That said, I pray that this case is used by God to establish legally the right to conscience in the military. The idea that your superior officer can command you to deny your religious beliefs is very scary -- but it is also a slippery slope, as the foofarah about whether Hasan had to shave his beard has shown. When rights are established based on religious belief, the same crap can be used by the 2% of Americans who are muslim.
There is no, repeat, no political path to salvation. And few Christians can escape this life without some form of crucifixion.
