An Irmo family was shocked to come home to a note on their door explaining that a police officer had shot and killed their dog on Labor Day.
The police chief says the shooting was justified but the family says the action was excessive and unnecessary.
Four-year-old Kenya was a German Shepherd Lab mix. She's been known to roam her Irmo neighborhood from time to time. But her family says she's never gone far and never hurt anyone.

You have to look at it from the cops angle. More and more these paramilitary forces are being bred to behave like Dobermans. No sense, just aggressiveness, hostility to the populace and a dire need to eliminate all canine competition.
Soon, the Democrats will ring a bell and the Dobermanns will kill upon command. It's advanced training 201.

If the owners let their dog roam the neighborhood unattended and off leash, then they are the reason it is dead.
Poor dog seems to have had stupid people.

Old Maine farmer joke:
"You look kinda glum Virgil."
"Had to shoot my dog."
"Was he mad?"
"Well, he weren't too pleased about it."

If the family was so concerned about its safety, they shouldn’t have allowed it to roam the neighborhood. It sounds like careless owners and careless owners often have undisciplined dogs, which can be an predictable mix.
Dogs, even nice ones, can on occasion do things that owners don’t expect.

Back in the 70’s in a suburban Long Island town our German Shepherd Duke hung around the house not tied up nor behind a fence for the 9 years of his life. He was not vicious and loved kids and no issues with the neighbors. Best dog evah..... These days that couldn’t happen.

I'm no longer needed to provide for my children. I'm past those years. My dog & I OTOH have what you would call an inseparable bond. She will not show any opinion on your intent unless you get between us, and should you do so, it's the doggie version of Cujo postal. If you come into our home, she could not care less. That is until you raise your voice or hand.
Do not ever "high five" a family member. She caught my son's teacher's arm mid swing before it could hit my son's hand. Five feet in the air might I add. She's a little older and slower these days, but her core priciples remain steadfast.

Yeah, I never leashed my dogs until the roads and traffic got bigger and vacant lots got more houses. It just seemed time to fence them in while I went to work.

That’s what I call a dog!
I have two Lhasos. The little girl dog is a great judge of character. If she doesn’t like someone I stop being around that person. She especially hates atheists.

The dog died because the neo-fascists in the PD have been trained that any dog approaching them is a life threatening act that justifies deadly force.
