Fort Hood gunman unanimously guilty on all charges

FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) -- Army Maj. Nidal Hasan was convicted Friday in the 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood, a shocking assault against American troops at home by one of their own who said he opened fire on fellow soldiers to protect Muslim insurgents abroad.

The Army psychiatrist acknowledged carrying out the attack in a crowded waiting room where unarmed troops were making final preparations to deploy to Afghanistan and Iraq. Thirteen people were killed and more than 30 wounded.

Because Hasan never denied his actions, the court-martial was always less about a conviction than it was about ensuring he received the death penalty. From the beginning of the case, the federal government has sought to execute Hasan, believing that any sentence short of a lethal injection would deprive the military and the families of the dead of the justice they have sought for nearly four years.

A jury of 13 high-ranking military officers reached a unanimous guilty verdict in about seven hours. Hasan had no visible reaction as the verdict was read. In the next phase of the trial, they must all agree to give Hasan the death penalty before he can be sent to the military's death row, which has just five other prisoners. If they do not agree, the 42-year-old could spend the rest of his life in prison.

If we plan to execute him, he will become the Islamic Mumia and a cause celeb with the American Left and in the Muslim World.

Once they actually do execute the POS he will become a highly publicized martyr

He just ain't worth the trouble.

Wheel him back to his lonely cell with minimal fanfare, lock the door, throw away the key and let him rot in Military prison under the military justice system which is much harsher than the civilian prison system.

“Unless his goal is to be found guilty.”

Bingo! Major Nidal Hasan wants to receive a death sentence so he can be a martyr for Allah. Here's what ought to be done: 1) execute him by firing squad with bullets dipped in pig blood; 2) put his body in a pine coffin with slaughtered pig parts; 3) ship him to his relatives and if they don't want him, cremate the body and scatter the ashes to the winds.

Thanks for the heads up, will try to catch it.

About two seconds after I posted the thread a call came in I had to take. By the time I got off the phone there were too many responses already to keep up with.

The military justice system is still tough and he has virtually none of the court appointed rights left wing judges have awarded to civilian prisoners.

He is still legally a member of the military and subject to it’s laws and rules he has just been stripped of all rights, rank and has forfeited his pay.

He is going to die in jail and every day he will wish that that is the day he dies.

Holder and/or POTUS will find some technicality to vacate the verdict...

To loosely paraphrase the philanderer in chief, "it depends what the meaning of guilty is".

A retired U.S. Army colonel told me a story that occurred when he was stationed in Berlin before the re-unification:

A Russian soldier in East Berlin was arrested for raping an East German woman. At his trial, the soldier confessed to the crime.

He was immediately marched out of the court and behind the building where he was shot in the head.

American officials were shocked at the speed and brutality of the death sentence. They wondered why there had been no appeal.

The Russians replied, "He confessed."

The Americans wondered at the brutality of the sentence.

The Russians replied, "He knew the sentence for a conviction of rape in the Russian Army is execution."

The laws regarding death sentences in the U.S. should be changed:

1. Appeal must be filed within 30 days
2. No continuances allowed on appeal
3. Sentence carried out within 24 hours if appeal is denied.

No, that is exactly what HE wants. He wants those 72 virgins. Deny him that easy escape. Let his sorry ass rot in jail and feed him pork and beans. NO PAROLE, EVER. You come out feet first. THEN we can bury his sorry ass in bacon grease after we throw him through the wood chipper.

"If he’s executed, it will be in 2039 or so."

If he is executed, will he be fulfilling his Islamic mission?

Will he go to wherever they go when they kill the infidels?

Paradise and virgins, I guess.

Maybe he should just die of common old age.

He'll probably get out on a criminal exchange with the Muslim Brotherhood or such...

I don’t know - I suspect he’ll be treated the way the little darlings at Guantanamo are treated. Special Islamic treats for their holidays, special Islamic diet all the time, Islamic reading material, meetings with their mullahs...you can’t make me believe that Hassan won’t get this stuff, no matter what kind of prison he goes to. In fact, if he doesn’t get it automatically, he will petition for it and no doubt get it.

Put him to death and have done with it.
