BARR: The U.N. comes after America’s guns
http://www.washingtontimes.com ^ | August 19, 2013 | Bob Barr

Posted on 08/19/2013 9:32:01 PM PDT by Whenifhow

The true scope of the anti-firearm crusade of the United Nations, which began more than a dozen years ago, finally is coming into clear focus, as the White House readies to sign the Arms Trade Treaty adopted with U.S. support this past April by the U.N. General Assembly. The reach of this long-term, carefully crafted agenda is truly breathtaking, going far beyond the publicly articulated goals of even the most radical of homegrown gun-control groups.

Since the first major U.N. meeting in July 2001, officially launching the so-called “Program of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects,” this bureaucratic behemoth on the banks of the East River in New York City has been attempting to stretch its tentacles into the domestic regulation of firearms. If the administration of President Obama signs the Arms Trade Treaty, the U.N. will have taken a major step toward its ultimate goal — regardless of whether the treaty is ever submitted to the Senate for ratification.

One need read no further than the introduction to this missive to understand its goal. The operative focus is strict regulation of civilian possession of firearms by the “central” or national government. This is necessary because “some civilians misuse small arms” by using them illegally or “improperly stor[ing]” them. The document bases this notion of government control of firearms and ammunition on “international law” — an inaccurate interpretation of such body of laws, but one that fits conveniently the U.N.’s agenda.

I'd honestly love to see them try. We can sort this out once and for all. The power-mad, suicidal imbeciles.

There was confusion on that. One article said it was already signed and another one said - sometime in August.

They’re talking about a civil war. The 2’nd amendment is the only thing which lets many of us feel safe enough to go on living in the US at present.

“I'd honestly love to see them try. We can sort this out once and for all. The power-mad, suicidal imbeciles.”

That pretty much sums it up.

On a level intellectual playing field where both sides listen to each other’s arguments, and adjust their views according to logic and reason, the left’s opinions regarding the personal ownership of firearms is easy to demolish. Any society where “the state” retains the sole privilege of lethal force and the tools to retain that monopoly, then you have practically by definition, a police state. The argument then becomes whether a police state is desirable, which most sane individuals agree isn't. The fly in the ointment is the original premise of a level intellectual playing field, which is absent by design for the marxist commie liberal left.

Be done with it and let’s get it on.

Cleaned up my accuracy this weekend with 2” groups on iron sights and less than 1” on my brother’s Luepold.

Don’t recall which on he had but, at least he quit using and bragging about his cheap azz, $199, mil dot. What a piece o crap.

Helped to be competing against each other and shooting from a completley new position. That of resting on your knee and toes off a bench, just so you could properly grip the weapon and get a good sight.

Was tough too. His sight practically sits on the rail. Very annoying as was his stoopit check rest, which sat a bit high as well.

Oh well. His gun, our fun.

Now if we could figure out how to get his rifle to feed properly out of a mag. As it is now, it’s a very expensive bolt action.

I do like his the left hand extension on the bolt carrier. Charging from the left is much easier and more natural.

Would be kewel if I could do that to my M1’s.

The colour of the helmet for them UN fella’s is blue, right?

and since cops seem intent on playing military, shooting all dogs and homeowners who believe they’re being home invaded, it is already tenuous at best.

Bob Barr and sidekick ‘Franklin’ used to do a very funny radio show in Georgia, “Bob Barr’s Laws of the Universe.” UN gun grabbing in the US was an issue even then. These are serial murderers from war-torn AIDS-infested tribal rape death-by-machete wastelands telling folks in Martha’s Vineyard how to behave.

Seems to me that obambi would be committing an impeachable crime, by signing this treaty. No question, in my opinion.

I would like to see articles of impeachment being brought up in the House, while the treaty is debated in the Senate...

The UN only has as much power as we give them. If the US wanted to, it could shut down the UN almost immediately. Therefore, the US government views the UN as a useful tool and supports what they are doing.

If foreign troops come here and try this, it will not end well at all.
