In his new NBC comedy, Michael J. Fox takes an anything-goes approach to his battle with Parkinson's disease and even plays it for laughs at times. He hopes viewers will be ready to play along.
"It is my reality. Parkinson's itself, there's nothing horrifying about it to me," he told reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. "I don't think it's gothic nastiness. There's nothing horrible about a shaky hand."

“It’s gigglewatts. “
Gigglehertz. Laugh ‘til you cry.
Back when he was on that sitcom and the “Back to the Future” movies, he was actually a cute, appealing actor.
Fox himself admitted in an interview that had had not taken his meds prior to the hearing. Sorry that I don’t have time to find a link right now but I can assure you that one exists.
Sorry to hear of your daughter’s dystonia. Since you’re familiar with dystonia, let me ask you a question.
Fox has Parkinson’s but it’s the med he takes for Parkinson’s that gives him the movement disorder.
Is that correct?
I know there are some meds that can cause dystonia, so it could be true.
I think some can just get dystonia as part of Parkinson’s.
I think it just may depend on the person.
My 16 year old daughter with dystonia is cnstantly cracking jokes about it. She and her dad make them up. My husband had cancer ladt year. They make jokes about that too.
It’s how they both cope.
She’s already lost the ability to play the flute and to write. It’s been hard to deal with school, and we have no idea what to do about college.
Humor is a good yhing when life can be so bleak.
I might add that she went into a very deep depression when she was first diagnosed last year.
I much prefer the joking!
Right, but I think the “controversy” about Rush was him mentioning it, I don’t recall him joking about it.
Media Matters selectively redacts Rush’s transcripts and then faxes the media the talking point. MM does this to other talk hosts as well (sometimes inverting a host’s opposition to a viewpoint into SUPPORT for that viewpoint when it is merely something they are READING on the air in order to discuss it).
Just use your Smith chart.
True, but I don’t think anyone has questioned MJF’s sexual preference.
I thought you had.
Michael J. Fox is not queer. He is Canadian.
Over 20 years ago my second-hand witness vouched for the veracity of Charge #1.
” I can guarantee that their pronunciation will be giga rather than jiga.”
Yes, Gigabyte and Jigawatt. Totally different measurements.
Well...he is working in Hollywood. Who knows?
By the way, what does your first hand witness have to say on the subject?
When my doctor first told me what I had, he said, “it’s the same thing that Katharine Hepburn had”, like I should feel honored or something.
My daughter, 14 years old got a new video camera recently and was filming me, I asked her how I looked, she said,”like a bobble head” so yes, we can joke within the family.
You’re wrong on ‘jigawatts’ as well but, since you’ve got your mind made up, I’m not going to try to convince you of that. Just watch the giggles (or jiggles if you prefer) when you pronounce it that way around people in the power industry.
Your cynicism is understandable.
According to my second-hand source who was tight buds with the original and direct FIRST-Hand witness, Fox's boyfriend used to visit the set and made no secret of their mutual affection. If fact the affection was...shall we say NOT exactly subtle. Believe it or not.
FWIW, my second-hand source is a person who was NOT a liar, and neither he swore was HIS first-hand source/witness. I realize this stuff is hard to believe for some, and it breaks some hearts, but Hollywood as you concede is quite a strange and gay place.
Another person others might find believing was a twink, believing his in-show rep: Steven Weber of the hilarious 90s TV show, "Wings."
And I'm sure THIS is all just a weird coincidence:
