at home last night, I was able to connect to WiiFii with my laptop ... it found a Wiifii connection called NETGEAR which was unsecured.

Is it possible that this is the pizza restaurant 4 doors down from me? or could it be something even further away than that?

I’m planning on switching away from DSL to prepaid wireless internet ... and use my service only when I cannot get a freebee wiifii. I am currently paying for DSL in 2 locations which is Costly $$$$.

I don’t know how much the usual wifi range is, 4 doors down sounds too far.

My dad was stealing wifi for a time.

It’s their own fault, if you leave your door open someone is gonna come in.

I think using someone else’s unsecured WiFi connection is illegal.

Just FYI.
