Have not read the opinion, but sounds like a simple Supremacy Clause and preemption decision, and is probably right.

You're no fun. Using logic, reason and calm is no substitute for unthinking outrage!

Obama’s not worried about polls.

Dictators rule without worrying about what the people think.

... the hand wringing, “AMERICA IS DONE” masses ...

... are also a form of "useful idiots."

I like Windflier's idea of civil disobedience -- not rioting, but civil disobedience. LOGIC alone, let alone informed perusal of actual American sentiment (as opposed to manipulated poll numbers and severely biased media reporting), shows that most Americans are sick of illegals voting, most Americans think people should at least have to show ID to vote, and that if Americans through acts of coordinated civil disobedience showed up at the polls on election day to peacefully enforce it or at least to peacefully make a big stink, they would be MASSIVELY supported by their fellow Americans from coast to coast, border to border.

WE are the majority. Liberals are the minority. It's just that a whole helluva lotta folks have been fooled into thinking the opposite because of the combined illusionary impact of a biased MSM and vote fraud, where liberals are elected by imaginary voters.

Then it should also be against the law to ask for a CCW.

More evidence that the court system is insane, and should no longer be respected.

The Motor Voter Law supercedes state law. This is why so many states are trying to issue non-resident drivers licenses to illegals. It’s so they will qualify to become a registered voter in federal elections.

The fact that two Judges dissented is sufficient justification for believing that the majority of the court is nuts.

This wasn’t part of the illegal immigration enforcement bills from a few years back but rather a voter imitative law put in place in 2004.

We are too little --- too late.

Some would call it treason or sedition ---

We have been too trusting, too accepting of incremental-ism, too little interest or attention to what our government and all its tentacles are engaged in on a daily basis. It is a long story ... Woodrow Wilson, or Andrew Jackson all the way up to today. Many new laws and changes to our systems, always moving us away from our Constitution.
God help us! we pray. "Is anything too hard for God?"

We've seen all this before...Some people just don't get it. It was predicted over and over.

Ya tell people about CA Prop 187 and how the government burned their ballots and declared our free election illegal, and they say, "It won't happen here".

This is the reason why the country is lost...People just can't seem to figure out what is happening, right in front of their eyes.

From the syllabus to the decision:

The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA) requires States to“accept and use” a uniform federal form to register voters for federal elections. 42 U. S. C. §1973gg–4(a)(1). That “Federal Form,” developed by the federal Election Assistance Commission (EAC), requires only that an applicant aver, under penalty of perjury, that he is a citizen. Arizona law, however, requires voter-registration officials to“reject” any application for registration, including a Federal Form, that is not accompanied by documentary evidence of citizenship. Respondents, a group of individual Arizona residents and a group of nonprofit organizations, sought to enjoin that Arizona law. Ultimately, the District Court granted Arizona summary judgment on respondents’ claim that the NVRA pre-empts Arizona’s requirement. The Ninth Circuit affirmed in part but reversed as relevant here, holding that the state law’s documentary-proof-of-citizenship requirement is pre-empted by the NVRA.

Held: Arizona’s evidence-of-citizenship requirement, as applied to Federal Form applicants, is pre-empted by the NVRA’s mandate thatStates “accept and use” the Federal Form. Pp. 4–18.

I'm not surprosed that Scalia ruled the way that he did. Stripped of emotional debate, the case comes down to statutory interpretation of a federal statute. Scalia has a long history of giving ordinary meaning to ordinary words and phrases when interpreting statues even when the result is unpopular among conservates.

Note that while Scalia found that the federal statute does not allow states to add requirements to the registration form to prove citizenship, he also stated that states have the right to deny registration if they have independent information indicatng that the applicant for voter registration is not a citizen.

Lastly, Scalia simply interpreted a poorly written statute and let the chips fall where they may. It's not the job of the SCOTUS to rewrite bad legislation. Maybe when Rubio finishes tea-bagging Schummer, he can attach a rider to his amnesty bill that requres proof of citizenship to register to vote.

Upon reflection, this ruling is not as bad as it sounds... The issue is the state basically tried to add a requirement to a Federal form. The answer is to change Motor Voter on the federal level (not going to happen), or make rules about State elections only.

What has happened over the last 25 years has been a slow bleed out to do everything possible to help Mexicans and South Americans enter the country illegally and stay forever with help from taxpayer funds.

Side effect-terroorists come in undetected.

Now the same hing is happening with isalmic terrorists and sharia law.

People just sat on their hands when the Prop 187 election was stolen. I remember when Jack Kemp & the gambling addict Bill Bennett flew into CA to berate CA conservatives who tried to fight this.
