Krauthammer to GOP: Be Quiet!
RushLimbaugh.com ^ | 5-15-2013 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 05/15/2013 12:37:10 PM PDT by servo1969

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, I've had people say, "Rush, how do we handle this? What's the best way to deal with all this?" See if you agree with this. Dr. Krauthammer on Fox News Special Report during the All-Star Panel last night, Bret Baier said, "Charles Krauthammer, when the president says there's no 'there' there, it almost seemed that he was challenging reporters to say, 'No, really, there's no "there" there.'"

original

KRAUTHAMMER: The one advice I'd give to Republicans is stop calling it a huge scandal. Stop saying it's a Watergate. Stop saying it's Iran-Contra. Let the facts speak for themselves. Have a special committee, a select committee, the facts will speak for themselves, pile 'em on; but don't exaggerate, don't run ads about Hillary. It feeds the narrative of the other side that it's only a political event. It is not. Just be quiet and present the facts.

RUSH: Okay, so shhhhh. Don't say anything, folks. 'Cause all you're gonna do is make the independents mad, and they'll just run back to the Democrats. Don't pile on. Don't gloat. Don't say, "I told you so." Just let the facts speak for themselves, just shh, shh, shh, shh, it'll take care of itself. No matter what the Democrats do, no matter what they say about you, no matter what they say about us, you just shh, shh, don't say anything.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, Charles Krauthammer on Fox last night said that we need to let the facts speak for themselves and that you people are making a mistake, Republicans are making a mistake, if you compare this to Watergate or if you compare this to Iran-Contra. Don't call Obama Nixon! You know, don't exaggerate. Don't run ads on Hillary. Just let the facts speak, 'cause if you do all that stuff, that's gonna feed the narrative that all you are is political, and that all you are is trying to defeat Obama politically and then people aren't gonna like you.

So with that in mind, let's go to sound bite number eight. It's the NBC Nightly News. The anchor, Brian Williams, was talking about the AP phone records scandal and the IRS targeting conservative groups.

WILLIAMS: As a lot of American adults not so fondly remember the last time the government was found looking into the phone calls of reporters and using the IRS for political purposes, it was the Nixon era. And while times have changed and circumstances are different, that subject came up at the Obama White House today as the administration now scrambles on several fronts.

RUSH: Oh. Brian Williams there just compared Obama to Nixon. Supposed back off, let the facts speak for themselves.

Fox, except for Cal Thomas and Pat Buchanan (who is under contract but has disappeared from view)has no social conservatives as pundits. Sarah Palin is a brilliant politician, but not a serious writer and commentator. And she’s gone now, anyway.

As a result, you never hear a full-throated denunciation of abortion or gay marriage or illegal immigration on Fox. All you get is secular conservatives talking about Romney campaign tactics and Benghazi and Obamacare, and it gets boring.

Then again, what do you expect from the value-free man who gave us Glee, anyway?

I don’t usually pay much attention to Charles K., Bill Kristol, Rove et al-and I certainly tune out McCain’s fake outrage. That said, just about anyone can have a coherent thought now and then-like keeping your cards close when you want to win-or watching and staying out of your enemy’s way when he/she is self destructing...

I would like to point out why there is plenty of logic in
“keeping quiet”. If in speaking out you feel the need to
invoke “Watergate” or some other past transgression then
you have gone too far. You allow the opposition to change
the subject.....you allow them to go on offense. Instead, you
redirect them with facts. Avoid power struggles. Fifteen years
of working with severely emotionally disturbed teens has
taught me that and who is really more disturbed than libs
when they are caught in the ‘Rat trap?

“How do you know Kraut is pro-abortion? I have never seen that asserted before.”

He wrote in a September 16, 2005, column: “I happen to be a supporter of legalized abortion.”

I think you’re probably right, only because we’ve all been disappointed so many times in the past. I hope you’re wrong, we can only pray and hope.

What you wrote is all fine and good, but it’s a cliche.

If you can provide an example or two of how Krauthammer moved the cause of conservatism forward, I’ll appreciate that. Right now, I’m not in the mood for trusting elitist RINOs.

PS - are you Texans still starved for water or is your situation looking better this year?

I looked up his "CV" once, and couldn't quite understand how he went directly from a liberal arts degree to medical school. I have made the assumption that he had "pull" getting in. He was very well connected.

It's not an unreasonable assumption. There are so many prerequisites to get into med school that are hard science and math that pre meds have degrees in chemistry and biology. Of course, a history major can do the prerequisites and still have a history degree, but having seen a lot of MDs and med students in my life this is simply not the likeliest possibility. The more likely is that someone greased his skids. Ivy League, they don't follow the rules the rest of us do.

It is a cliche among people who know a lot of docs that shrinks are not the sharpest scalpel in the drawer. Sorry. He does carry the air of the smart doctor when it suits him, but I don't think he has seen many patients.

He was a psychiatrist for a few years. Liberal arts majors becoming physicians doesn’t seem unusual. He still speaks French to his mother.

Lots of med schools are catching on to the fact that true liberal arts majors can think very well and have a balanced educational foundation and are good at thinking through ethical issues.

He's Canadian. Most of them speak some French.

Liberal arts majors who become physicians is unusual. They essentially have to get a science BS in addition to their BA, by the time the prerequisites are done, and usually are prouder of the BS than the BA because it represents so much more in the way of effort. I know an MFA who eventually got an MD.

And I know lots of MDs who got their law degrees later. It was a piece of cake to get a law degree after med school. What I have never met is someone who got an MD after a law degree, proving to me that lawyers are, by and large, really dumb.

Now, I didn't say I knew absolutely that CK didn't take much in the way of hard science prerequisites. But I do know of well-placed people getting into med school without prerequisites.

(lol) sorry. Can’t help myself. Gee, our universities are so good at teaching ethics for doctors in Queer Studies curricula! Unicorns farting skittles, and all. It’s not that it can’t happen, but that it generally doesn’t. Give me someone who can calculate, who knows their biochemical pathways. But I don’t deny that the admins of med schools are infected with all kinds of nonsense.

I’m within one semester of finishing my B.A. - liberal arts, classics minor.

Philosophy, Theology, history, Latin, Greek.

Conservative school. Very hard classes. It’s worth it just to read Ovid and ancient Greek plays in their original languages, not to mention the New Testament.

Laugh all you want.

I'm old enough to remember how the Watergate "scandal". Developed.

After the burglary was discovered and the perps arrested, it was reported as just that...a burglary at Democratic headquarters.

It was only after weeks of Dem caterwauling that the media decided to run with it, with remarkable tenacity I must say.

Too bad Krauthammer wasn't there to temper their enthusiasm.

He went to Oxford for three years on an academic scholarship. Pulitzer Prize winner. Not someone who needed extra pull to get into Harvard Med. Did some pioneering work in psychiatry.

And he did indeed start out in hard sciences, switching to liberal arts later out of interest, not lack of accomplishment.

I’m not really a K fan, but his brains and accomplishments can’t be denied.

Thanks for the link.

I read the entire article...

very strange choice of words, I’d like him to be more specific.

I am vehemently pro-life, wonder what he means by “supporter of legalized abortion”...doesn’t seem to mean much in and of itself. He speaks in the column about the poison Roe v. Wade has been upon the system, and seems to decry the “judicial fiat” that established the current practice.

I am not a supporter of abortion, but do recognize others may want exceptions to the rule. I am willing to move the ball in the proper direction...which is to eliminate abortions except for life of the mother, (not the “mental health” thereof) or perhaps rape/incest...but I *do* oppose those last ones—I’d compromise to get the rest....

What Kraut says is a bit troubling...wonder how he can justify the murder of an innocent child.

I've known a few who went to Cambridge or Oxford for lib degrees. Amazing how that Brit cachet does impress! But, not me, I'm afraid. I'd rather see an A in biochemistry from U of State. They like Yanks because they pay the tuition. It's true. It's easy to get into either school if you have the ready. And they give a LOT of "gentlemen's C's"--

He's well-spoken. He can generate a competent sentence. Whatever intelligence he has, it's not enough to allow for all that overweening and obnoxious condescension.

I'm still holding out for that pull that all the Partisan Review gentility had with the Ivies. My mom does Mah Jong with your mom, and all.

Kraut is right. Let the evidence pile up and tell the story. If it does, no heated rhetoric is needed. If it doesn’t, no amount of rhetoric will have any effect.

He is on a quite screed for what Colin Powell is so enamored with "Process"...

That was all well and good in 1974 with 3 major Networks, Sam Ervin, and a Media that wanted to nail Nixon's @$$.

Now we have 57 channels and nothing is on and a populous who cares more about some actresses boobs, Smucky Chumer and McLame and everyone wants to Save Obama's @$$.

I don't see process working today...
