Krauthammer to GOP: Be Quiet!
RushLimbaugh.com ^ | 5-15-2013 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 05/15/2013 12:37:10 PM PDT by servo1969

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, I've had people say, "Rush, how do we handle this? What's the best way to deal with all this?" See if you agree with this. Dr. Krauthammer on Fox News Special Report during the All-Star Panel last night, Bret Baier said, "Charles Krauthammer, when the president says there's no 'there' there, it almost seemed that he was challenging reporters to say, 'No, really, there's no "there" there.'"

original

KRAUTHAMMER: The one advice I'd give to Republicans is stop calling it a huge scandal. Stop saying it's a Watergate. Stop saying it's Iran-Contra. Let the facts speak for themselves. Have a special committee, a select committee, the facts will speak for themselves, pile 'em on; but don't exaggerate, don't run ads about Hillary. It feeds the narrative of the other side that it's only a political event. It is not. Just be quiet and present the facts.

RUSH: Okay, so shhhhh. Don't say anything, folks. 'Cause all you're gonna do is make the independents mad, and they'll just run back to the Democrats. Don't pile on. Don't gloat. Don't say, "I told you so." Just let the facts speak for themselves, just shh, shh, shh, shh, it'll take care of itself. No matter what the Democrats do, no matter what they say about you, no matter what they say about us, you just shh, shh, don't say anything.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, Charles Krauthammer on Fox last night said that we need to let the facts speak for themselves and that you people are making a mistake, Republicans are making a mistake, if you compare this to Watergate or if you compare this to Iran-Contra. Don't call Obama Nixon! You know, don't exaggerate. Don't run ads on Hillary. Just let the facts speak, 'cause if you do all that stuff, that's gonna feed the narrative that all you are is political, and that all you are is trying to defeat Obama politically and then people aren't gonna like you.

So with that in mind, let's go to sound bite number eight. It's the NBC Nightly News. The anchor, Brian Williams, was talking about the AP phone records scandal and the IRS targeting conservative groups.

WILLIAMS: As a lot of American adults not so fondly remember the last time the government was found looking into the phone calls of reporters and using the IRS for political purposes, it was the Nixon era. And while times have changed and circumstances are different, that subject came up at the Obama White House today as the administration now scrambles on several fronts.

RUSH: Oh. Brian Williams there just compared Obama to Nixon. Supposed back off, let the facts speak for themselves.

But you don’t understand, nothing we do short of dropping it will be considered “just the facts.” Ever. Never. Period.

But wasn’t that Krauthammer’s point? let OTHERS make the point that it’s like watergate. Sit back, be quiet and let the other side be consumed by the inferno.

What OTHERS are you referring to? The Lame Stream Media? Democrat politicians? If this hadn't been spearheaded by conservatives (both in politics and outside of politics) no one would be talking about any of these scandals today. If the families of those killed in Benghazi didn't speak out no one on the left would be remotely concerned. If the families of the SEALS killed in Afghanistan a few months after the "Bin Laden" "raid" were not airing their concerns regarding Extortion 17, who would even know about it?

Krauthammer is an idiot. There isn't anyone outside of conservatives who are spotlighting these scandals.

Of course, there’s always that Napoleon maxim: Never interfere with your enemy when he’s engaged in destroying himself.

Now you see Krauthammer for what he is. The Kraut is NOT A CONSERVATIVE, and here are some others; Chris Wallace, Brett Hume, Bill O’Reilly, the Chamber of Commerce, the Heritage Society, RNC, GOP, then there are all the little Trotskyites in the Rep Party. Wake up and realize the Republicans are nothing but small L leftist that love Big Government, they will never, ever, never be anything else. See how they all treat the Tea Party??? Believe it, DC is an immediate and urgent threat to you and your family’s well being.... they want you subdued or DEAD!

“Sit back, be quiet and let the other side be consumed by the inferno.”

“Be quiet”? What? This is outrageous. Congressmen should be screaming about it and demanding independent prosecutors to get all the facts and put people in jail. Be quiet my arse.

Best post yet. I agree, this is no way to ‘play’ this that would ever ever ever make the dems/commies/low info voters think higher of conservatives, never!

And to the idiot poster way at the top, not sure the name, calling Rush a liability for our side is about as naive a comment I have ever heard.

That's actually not bad advice.

It's probably not going to affect how liberals behave, but better to be the person who says "This may not be Watergate but it's very important to get to the bottom of it" than the person who says "This is Watergate."

Better to be the person who can't be easily ignored or dismissed as obviously partisan, rather than the person who can.

Better not let your passions get in the way of your argument.

But politics nowadays is more about expressing emotion or striking poses than about formulating strategies to get things done.

The only thing I wish to add is that back in 2009-10, Krauthammer visably winced at the “town hall protests” with people publicly confronting the politicians. Ditto the tea-party events. He said they looked bad, and would backfire on the Republicans in the 2010 mid-terms. He was wrong, obviously. Very wrong.

I’m also still annoyed at how Krauthammer condescendingly criticized Palin for her “death panels” Facebook posting, and stating she should “leave the room”... and then immediately after that, Krauthammer went on to basically repeat EXACTLY the same points Palin had been making in her posting. Made him appear quite a jerk.

He may be right here, or he may be wrong. Whatever the case, his track-record on such matters isn’t too hot, to put it mildly.

If we go beyond the current several crisis and say, for example, “The Obama Administration is the most corrupt in history,” the left and the press will argue that claim instead of the abuse at hand. I’ve already seen news reports excusing Obama because “Irangate was worse and Reagan skated.”

If you keep it at, “The IRS illegally targeted conservative groups, who knew and who ordered it?” It’s harder to let it slide. I don’t want to argue about past administrations, I want Obama front and center.

He may have a point in that Watergate and Iran-Contra may as well be Tea Pot Dome to today’s low-information voter.

The low-information voter has no knowledge of Watergate, Iran-Contra, or Tea Pot Dome. They know more about Khloe Kardashian than they do George Washington.

The bigger issue is that it pretty much says that the media and the Dems hold all the cards. The GOP and the conservative media have no power other than to hurt themselves.

Which means it is time for a different tactic.

Charles needs to advise Obama of this. He’s going on national television at 6 PM apparently to talk about one of his scandals.

We’re gonna be accused of being partisan and of “jumping up and down” and “screaming” regardless of what we do... This is where Krauthammer is blitheringly naive.

That's for sure. So I hope they are as aggressive and methodical as possible. There's more than enough out there right now to keep the 0bama administration on the defensive, so now is not the time for timidity.

“I think Krauthammer is right...”

I can’t think of a single thing that Krauthammer has done to advance the conservative cause.

If you know of such an incident, please refresh my poor memory. I think that Charles is a RINO impeller, providing impetus to such sterling senators as McCain and Graham.
