A HIPAA covered entity is any organization or corporation that directly handles Personal Health Information (PHI) or Personal Health Records (PHR). The most common examples of covered entities include hospitals, doctors’ offices and health insurance providers.

Covered entities are required to comply with Health Information Portability and Accountability Act HIPAA (HIPAA) and Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) mandates for protection of PHI and PHR.

The IRS needs to go. Implement a flat tax or a national sales tax and be done with it. You would then only need a fraction of the personnel now at the IRS to collect revenue because the rules would be greatly simplified.

I would prefer a national sales tax that way how much you pay in taxes is mostly determined by your own buying habits.

And next year, they won’t have to steal them at all.
Under 0bamacare, they’ll “have to” have them for enforcement purposes.

According to the case, the IRS agents had a search warrant for financial data pertaining to a former employee of the John Doe company,

Wonder what the original investigation was for?

This is bureaucratic thinking but there may me a lot more to this. might be cya. Was easier to give all the info to the irs than spend your time (days) sorting through the info for them. All these regulations are a heavy tax and burden on business........................

compensatory damages could start at a minimum of $250 billion.

Provided that these billions come from where? These lawsuits feed the beast.

The IRS officials involved all the way to the top should be fired. Zero compensation should be paid. No way in hell I should pay some guy in CA via my tax dollars because some IRS agent saw his medical records. This should involve criminal prosecution not civil.

The too-hilarious-for-words irony is that any financial settlement will be immediately taxed at the maximum level.

In 2014, all physicians and clinics will hand over all electronic medical records for almost everyone in the USA, to the IRS. It’s part of Obamacare.

So these guys did it a little early, probably to test their algorithms.

I’m not sure why the article has to specify California judges out of a pool of 10,000,000 people who had their record stolen. I’d bet this has a lot more to do with blackmailing / extorting corporations than any couple of judges.
