If DEd is going to revise the forms to reflect today’s society, and wishes to be accurate, there should be spaces for “Parent 1,” “Parent 2,” “Parent 3,” “Parent 4,” with a few more spaces for “Parent, Other.”
If one Mommy used to be a Daddy, s/he may have another Daddy and another Mommy or two with significant income. Why stop counting income with only two parents?
I never applied for the Pell even when I was in university. I did every “odd” job from bartender, bouncer, dj and my personal favorite: driver/bodyguard for an escort service. American kids today are effing’ weak and entitlement lazy.

On the FAFSA, if your parents weren’t married, you only had to report your “custodial” parent’s income, which meant if you had an unemployed or poor single mother or father and claimed them as your custodial parent, you were golden for federal aid.
Also it never treated adopted children differently.
This Parent 1 and Parent 2 does nothing to address any problems, and there are many, with the FAFSA.
If you eliminate the authority of mothers and fathers, there’s no authority to stand between the government and your children.
Today’s students are all Cabbage Patch Kids.

I was thinking of how video gamning has spun their brains into mush, like boiled cabbage. Kids do not have the capacity to sit and think, to contemplate and thus assimilate their world and what they learn. They are programmed and wired up, and their brains are like boiled cabbage.

Well, my kids didn’t get any aid because I make too much. That is a crock in itself, but I digress.
We filled out some of those forms and I can say that I would line out parent #1 and write in father etc... just to make a point. Just like I always mark out any hyphenated designators on every form I fill out and any spanish translations. Takes me a while to fill stuff out but I do not get bored.
Maybe that is why I never get anything? I even did it on a ticket I got back a while ago. When I went to court to ask for defensive driving the JP asked about all the mark outs. When I told him he just laughed and moved on.
