PC Amok: Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, responding to pressure to change his team's name, tweeted: "In a land of freedom we are held hostage by the tyranny of political correctness." Washington Redtails, anyone?
The problems of poverty, unemployment, crime and failing schools having been solved, the Washington, D.C., council is considering a nonbinding resolution by David Grosso, an "independent" at-large councilman, demanding that Redskins owner Dan Snyder change the team's name to the "Redtails."
This presumably would honor the Tuskegee Airmen, the black fighter pilots who wrote tales of heroism across the skies above World War II battlefields.
As the Washington Times points out, few people, including the politically correct Mr. Grosso, know that "Redskins," as they've been called for 80 years, was actually adopted to honor the team's second coach, Lone Star Dietz, who was descended from American Indians, before "Indians" became "Native Americans," which they really aren't.
Most "Native Americans" are in fact descendants of populations that came from Siberia over a land bridge between Asia and America that existed during the ice ages, more than 15,000 years ago.
Griffin, also known as RGIII, has felt the sting of political correctness personally. Arguably the nation's fastest-rising pro football star, he was publicly disparaged last December as a "cornball brother" and "not one of us" by Rob Parker, a black newspaper columnist and ESPN analyst. Parker had found out that Griffin was a Republican and engaged to a white woman. No stereotypes on the left, are there?

The "Washington Redtails"......
If the Redskins are to have a name change, I suggest the Washington Red Tapes.
The NCAA under Myles Brand led the way with this crap. Players getting forged transcripts to keep playing? Hookers provided to recruits during campus visits? Under the table cash for players? Police blotters wiped out by well-connected boosters? All of these endemic problems in college sports were wiped out in one fell swoop by changing Native American mascot names.
Same thing with the Redskins, and RGIII is exactly right. There are a lot more important things to deal with. It is political correctness run amok, while Rome burns.
I really like this RG3. I’m a Dallas fan living in the DC suburbs, but I find it hard to root against Robert Griffin III. He just seems like a class act all the way around. I’m wishing him a speedy recovery and pray his knee holds up.

God Bless RGIII.
Washington needs to stop running those ridiculous triple-option plays and just let the guy run a half dozen or so draws or zone read plays a game, and otherwise use those jets just to get out of trouble.
That would be a healthy thing.
This guy is a good example of what a non-showboat, Christian, NFL QB looks like - not that he's the only one still on the roster... (ahem)
“Washington Redtails”
Must be the choice of the homosexual players.

What I see here is a systematic approach to expunging any reference or thought of Native Americans from the American consciousness. Perhaps at its root, it is driven by liberals who can’t stand to be reminded that liberal policies have been abysmal towards Native Americans.

Or how about just the Washington Reds?
RGIII will be forced out.
He is not the expected player the narrative wants, and he will be destroyed.
